Allen-Bradley has designed and manufactured several types of analog current output modules that can adapt to the different specific applications in different industrial environments. One of these modules is part of the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix Programmable Logic Controller product family, and it is the Allen-Bradley 1769-OF4CI Individually Isolated Analog Current Output Module. As the name of the module implies, this solid-state device comes with a special level of isolation between each of its 4 output points, which are fully customizable and adaptable to the current loop that they will be directly controlling. The Allen-Bradley 1769-OF4CI Individually Isolated Analog Current Output Module can be configured to work in the 0 to 20 milliamps current range, or in the most common current range used in instrumentation systems worldwide which is the 4 to 20 milliamps range.
The module is designed for direct connection into a CompactLogix PLC, and the connection is made by inserting its rear 16-pin connector into a matching slot in the PLC chassis. The Allen-Bradley 1769-OF4CI Individually Isolated Analog Current Output Module has a current draw rated at 145 milliamps when working on 5 Volts DC rated applications and one rated at 120 milliamps when working on 24 Volts DC rated applications. The outputs points are pre-calibrated from the factory and the state-of-the-arts electronics in the Allen-Bradley 1769-OF4CI Individually Isolated Analog Current Output Module eliminate the necessity of further calibrations by the users. The heat dissipation from the module is rated at 2.68 Watts maximum, so no special arrangements are needed for cooling the modules apart from the standard ones required for keeping the whole CompactLogix PLC’s operating temperature in check.
