About 1769-L38ERMSK
The Allen-Bradley 1769-L38ERMSK is a Compact GuardLogix controller with conformally coated assembly. This Compact GuardLogix controller maintains the standard capabilities of a 1769-L38ERM while qualifying the controller for use in Safety applications with safety requirements up to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (e) applications. The conformal coating of this controller allows use in applications with harsh environments or those applications wherein moisture, dust, dirt and corrosive air is present. This controller has a built-in 5MB standard memory and 1.5 MB safety memory. It also ships with a removable memory card with catalog number 1784-SD1 with 1GB memory. This memory card may be replaced with 1784-SD2 with 2Gb memory. This controller may be installed with 1769 Compact I/O modules, with maximum number of Thirty-One (31) modules. This compact I/O modules serves as the local I/O expansion that directly connect to the controllers backplane. This backplane may be extended up to Three (3) I/O expansion banks which may be installed horizontally or vertically within an enclosure. Supported expansion direction include Right bank to right bank expansion, Left bank to left bank expansion and Right bank to left back expansion. Each I/O banks, including the controller bank must be installed with an appropriate end cap such as 1769-ECR or Right end cap and 1769-ECL or Left end cap. These end caps terminate the connection of each I/O bank. This controller cannot operate without a power supply. Only One (1) power supply is needed with compatible power supplies include 1769-PA2, 1769-PB2, 1769-PA4, and 1769-PB4. Each I/O expansion must be installed with a dedicated power supply as well. 3rd party power supplies or external power supplies cannot be used as the CompactLogix power supplies have especially designed connection pins intended to fit the CompactLogix controller backplane. This controller is capable of running up to 32 tasks with up to 100 programs per task may be configured. Supported tasks include Continuous, Periodic, and Event tasks. Continuous task are tasks that are continually executed typically used in most applications. Periodic task are task that may run in schedule while event task are tasks that are executed when a certain specific trigger is detected such as a change of state on an I/O device or any similar trigger. Other trigger source include consumed tag, EVENT instruction triggers, Module Input Data Change, and motion events may be defined. This controller may be used with Huan Machine Interface (HMI). An HMI device may access the controllers standard tags in read and write functionality. Safety tags however, may only be read by the HMI device. This controller has Dual Ethernet communication ports supporting a variety of network topologies such as Device Level Ring (DLR), Star and Linear. Device Level Rings is utilized for resilient communication network, capable of operating even with a failed communication as the secondary path provides an alternate route for data and automatically takes over when failure is detected.
