About 1769-L38ERMS

The Allen-Bradley 1769-L38ERMS is a Compact GuardLogix controller. This Compact GuardLogix controller is used for applications that requires compliance up to and including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (e). This controller maintains the capability of a 1769-L38ERM with the addition of safety functionality. The standard control capability of this controller supports 32 tasks wherein up to 100 programs may be assigned in each task. Applicable controller tasks include Continuous, Periodic, and Event tasks. For event tasks, consumed tag, EVENT instruction triggers, Module Input Data Change, and motion events may be defined. Part of the standard controller feature includes an embedded 5MB user memory that acts as the volatile memory. It also ships with a 1784-SD1 with 1GB memory which may be upgraded to 2GB memory with use of 1784-SD2. For local I/O expansion, this controller supports 1769 Compact I/O modules. Up to Thirty-One (31) Compact I/O modules may be installed, distributed in Three (3) Compact I/O expansion banks. Supported expansion bank orientation are Right bank to Right bank expansion, Left bank to Left bank expansion and Right bank to left bank expansion. I/O banks may be installed horizontally and vertically. Distributed I/O architecture may be implemented over communication networks such as Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet and ControlNet. The safety feature of the controller qualifies the device for applications that require up to Sil requirements an Performance Level (e). The controller has a dedicated safety memory of 1.5MB. When used with Human Machine Interface (HMI) device, the safety tags of the safety controller is available as Read-only tags while standard tags functions similarly as normal tags. The safety control tasks supported by this controller are automatically created with tools which restrict user implementation to safety functions, includes restricted set of features and functions and includes safety specific instructions. The controller is also capable of implementing Security (Safety Task Signature, Locking) and Safety I/O. This controller has Dual Ethernet communication ports supporting a variety of network topologies such as Device Level Ring (DLR), Star and Linear. Device Level Rings is utilized for resilient communication network, capable of operating even with a failed communication as the secondary path provides an alternate route for data and automatically takes over when failure is detected. Linear and Star are used in less critical application as it cannot provide resiliency and fault tolerance. The ethernet interface supports up to Eighty (80) Ethernet nodes. For industrial communication, the Ethernet I/P interface is used. This controller also has One (1) USB port designed for temporary connections for temporary connections such ass initial download of controller configurations as well as local maintenance. The motion capability of this controller supports up to Sixteen (16) motion axes. Motion loops that may be controlled includes Torque, Velocity and Position for Kinetix drives while Torque, Velocity, Position and Frequency is possible with PowerFlex drives.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-L38ERMS is a Compact GuardLogix controller. This controller has 5 Mbyte standard memory and 1.5 MB safety memory. It has Dual Ethernet communication port and One (1) USB port. It supports 80 Ethernet nodes, Thirty-One (31) 1769 Compact I/O modules and features integrated motion capability supporting up to Sixteen (16) axes. This controller is certified for use up to and including SIL 3 and Performance Level (e) rated applications.
