About 1769-L38ERMOS

The Allen-Bradley product with catalog number 1769-L38ERMOS is an Armor Compact GuardLogix controller. This controller features combination of capabilities of a standard CompactLogix controller, Motion controller and Safety controller. Being an Armor Compact GuardLogix controller, this product comes with an IP67 enclosure and applicable in UL Type 4X applications and environments. The controller has a cost effective and economical design. It also simplifies maintenance and troubleshooting. It promotes minimized cabinet hardware, simplified wiring and installation layout, specialty tools not required as well as high-level of expertise not need to perform maintenance and troubleshooting, Improve Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Simplified troubleshooting, Readily available system status that can be easily seen in the controllers front panel, without the need to open a cabinet or visit a control room. Being a safety controller as well, the 1769-L38ERMOS has 1.5 MB allocated for safety memory. This controller may be used up to an including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (e) safety applications. The safety tags may be accessed by Human Machine Interface (HMI) device as Read-only tags. The standard features of this controller includes integrated 5MB user memory which is a volatile memory. Unlike traditional electronic components that require use of batteries to maintain the contents of the volatile memory, this controller uses an internal energy storage solution circuit which eliminates battery usage. It also has a 1784-SD1 Secure Digital (SD) card with 1GB memory. Additionally, the controller may be configured to load program from the non-volatile memory each time the controller starts. This is a commonly used recovery method for controllers that utilizes batteries to maintain the non-volatile memory. As soon as the battery discharges and power is removed from the controller, the controller loses data and cannot function. Though the 1769-L33ERMOS has an internal energy storage, failure of this circuit may bring the same scenario. This make the SD card useful to prevent unwanted downtime of process due to controller malfunction brought by missing program. Being a motion controller, this controller supports up to Sixteen (16) motion axes. Motion loops that may be controlled includes Torque, Velocity and Position for Kinetix drives while Torque, Velocity, Position and Frequency is possible with PowerFlex drives. Specifically, compatible Kinetix drives are Kinetix 350, Kinetix 5500, Kinetix 5700, and Kinetix 6500 drives while only PowerFlex 755 drive may be used. This controller also features Two (2) Ethernet communication ports. Being an Armor Compact GuardLogix controller, connections to the controller including communication interfaces are made via circlar, IP67 rated cordsets. These cordsets maintain the protection rating. Even if it comes with cordsets, the Ethernet interface still supports a variety of network topologies such as Ethernet, Linear and Traditional Star. This controller is programmed and configured using Studio 5000 Logix Designer. This is used to define communication drivers and define communication paths.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-L38ERMOS is an Armor Compact GuardLogix controller. This controller has 5MB standard memory and 1.5MB safety memory. It also has Dual Ethernet communication port and One (1) USB port. It supports 80 Ethernet nodes, with integrated motion capability supporting up to Sixteen (16) axes. This controller is certified for use in safety application that require up to and including SIL 3 and Performance Level (e) where de-energized state is the safe state.
