About 1769-L37ERM

The 1769-L37ERM is a Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) that belongs to the 5370 L3 CompactLogix controller. This industrial component is manufactured by Allen-Bradley used in a wide variety of industrial application such as factory and process automation industry. The 1769-L37ERM is a standard controller that features an integrated 4MB volatile, user memory and capable of implementing motion control application supporting up to Sixteen (16) motion axes. The 1769-L37ERM ships with a removable 1769-SD1 memory card with memory size of 1GB. It can be replaced and upgraded with 1769-SD2 with 2GB memory. The memory cards provide non-volatile memory which can be used for modular transfer of program data to other controllers. This SD card may also be used to load data to the controller during every power cycle of the controller. The 1769 -L37ERM has no embedded I/O channels. However, it supports installation up to Thirty-One (31) 1769 Compact I/O modules which can be distributed to a maximum of up to Three (3) I/O banks. I/O bank installation supports horizontal and vertical orientation with expansion direction of right bank to right bank, left bank to left bank expansion and right to left bank expansion. This controller also supports Distributed I/O architecture over Ethernet I/P or DeviceNet. A variety of compatible distributed modules are available with the most commonly used are 1794 Flex I/O and 1734 POINT I/O. The controller complies with the IEC 6113103 programming language standard as it can be programmed using Relay, ladder, Structured Text, Function block and Sequential Function Chart (SFC). The 1769 -L37ERM is capable of implementing motion control over Ethernet as it supports up to Sixteen (16) motion axes used with Allen-Bradleys Kinetix drives such as Kinetix 350, Kinetix 5500, Kinetix 5700, and Kinetix 6500 drives for Position loop, Velocity loop and Torque loop. It is also capable of implementing Position loop, Velocity loop, Torque loop and Frequency control for PowerFlex 755 drive. The controller is powered using CompactLogix power supply. CompactLogix power supplies provide power to the backplane where the controller and other CompactLogix modules are installed. The 1769-L37ERM controller has a current draw of 500 mA at 5VDc and 225 mA at 24VDC with a power dissipation of 4.5 W. Compatible power supplies for this controller are 1769-PA2, 1769-PB2, 1769-PA4, 1769-PB4. The controller has a power supply distance rating of Four (4). The controller is provided with Two (2) 10/100 Mbps Ethernet communication interfaces supporting Device Level Ring (DLR), Star and Linear topology. With DLR topology, a more resilient communication may be established using primary and secondary communication paths. Automatic path transfer occurs when the primary communication path fails allowing continuous communication. Linear and Star topology are have single communication paths wherein failure of one communication highways halts data exchange.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-L37ERM is a CompactLogix controller that belongs to the 5370 L3 CompactLogix family. This controller has 4 Mbyte memory, Dual Ethernet communication port and One (1) USB port. It supports 64 Ethernet nodes, Thirty-One (31) 1769 Compact I/O modules and features integrated motion capability supporting up to Sixteen (16) axes.

F.A.Q for 1769-L37ERM

Q: 1. What is the main functional difference 1769-L36ERM and 1769-L37ERM support?A: The main difference are the supported ethernet nodes and user memory size. The 1769-L37ERM has an increased memory size of 4 MB and ethernet node support with maximum nodes of 64 compared to the 1769-L36ERMs 3MB memory and 48 nodes.
Q: 2. Can I upgrade the non-volatile memory of the controller?A: Yes, it may be upgraded to 1769-SD2 which is a 2GB SD card.
Q: 3. Can I use the SD card to restore user programs?A: Yes, that is one of the main function supported by the SD card.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1769-L37ERM is a standard CompactLogix controller. Compared to the 1769-L36ERM, the specific functional enhancement of this controller is via the supported number of Ethernet nodes wherein up to 64 nodes may be connected as well as the increased user memory as it is equipped with 4MB memory. It remains a standard controller with integrated motion capability supporting up to 16 axes.
