The Allen-Bradley 1769-L36ERM is a CompactLogix controller that belongs to the 1769 CompactLogix product family. This controller is a Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) capable of implementing discrete and analog control in a wide variety of control applications and requirement. This controller is responsible for executing downloaded user program and implement data exchange. The 1769-L36ERM is provided with 2 MB user memory, and 1GB non-volatile memory via the removable 1769-SD1 Secure Digital card. This removable memory card memory card may be upgraded to a 2GB memory card with catalog number 1769-SD2. The embedded communication capability of the 1769-L33ERM are dual Ethernet interfaces and One (1) USB communication interfaces. Ethernet enables the controller to perform data exchange over Ethernet I/P network using Cat5 or Cat6 cable with RJ45 connector terminated both ends. These embedded Ethernet I/P interface supports communication topologies of Device Level Ring (DLR), Linear and Star topologies. Supported data transfer speed is 10/100 Mbps with auto-negotiation capability. IP address assignment may be done with the use of BOOTP-DHCP utility wherein the unique MAC address of the device serves as the reference for IP address assignment. Alternatively, initial download of parameters to the controller including the IP address may be done via the USB 1.0 communication port. The controller may be installed with 1769 Compact I/O modules with a maximum of Thirty (30) modules may be installed as local expansion modules. These modules may be distributed in Three (3) I/O banks where I/O banks can be mounted horizontally and vertically. Distributed I/O architecture may be implemented over Ethernet interface by utilizing different platorms. Typical Distributed I/O devices include 1794 Flex I/O and 1734 POINT I/O modules. Other compatible Distributed I/O systems include compatible systems are 1746 SLC, and 1756 ControlLogix. In-cabinet I/Os include 1734D POINTBlock I/O, and 1797 FLEX Ex I/O. Compatible ON-machine I/O includes 1732 ArmorBlock I/O, and 1738 ArmorPOINT I/O. The controller may also be used with display devices such as industrial computers, PanelView Plus, PanelView Plus CE, PanelView Standard, and PanelView e terminals. Not limited to Allen-Bradley products, this controller may also be used to communicate with 3rd party devices, protocol converters and gateways. Generally, the controller is capable of communicating with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The 1769-L36ERM can implement messaging between other controller platforms such as 1756 ControlLogix, 1756 GuardLogix, CompactLogix 5370, 1768-L4x CompactLogix, 1769-L3x CompactLogix, 1769-L23x CompactLogix, 1789 SoftLogix 5800, 1794 FlexLogix, PowerFlex with DriveLogix, 1785 PLC-5, 1747 SLC, 1761 MicroLogix, 1762 MicroLogix, 1763 MicroLogix, and 1764 MicroLogix. This method is typically used when partner controllers cannot be converted to Remote I/O thus with messaging, specific controller data may be sent in pockets simultaneously or in pre-set intervals. The controller has an integral Motion control capability over Ethernet. It supports up to Eight (8) axes. Compatible drives for use with the controller includes Kinetix 350, Kinetix 5500, Kinetix 5700, and Kinetix 6500 drives for Position loop, Velocity loop and Torque loop.
