About 1769-CRR1

The Allen-Bradley 1769-CRR1 is a 1769-CompactLogix accessory cable that is used for installation of I/O expansion banks. The 1769-CRR1 is specifically a CompactLogix communication bus expansion cable that is used for Right bank-to-Right bank expansion with expansion length of 1 ft. or 305 mm. If used with 1769 CompactLogix system, up to Two (2) expansion cables may be used which translates to a maximum of Three (3) expansion I/O banks. If used with MicroLogix 1500 controller system, only One (1) bus expansion cable is permitted which translates to One (1) expansion I/O bank. For 1769 CompactLogix, the no. of supported 1769 Compact I/O expansion may differ. Some controllers support up to Sixteen (16) Compact I/O while some are capable of up to Thirty (30) Compact I/O. Regardless of the controller used, the expansion modules may be distributed along the I/O banks, not exceeding the total number of supported Compact I/O modules. Expansion I/O banks are flexible solution for maximizing the capability of any CompactLogix controller and allow the controller to meet the application requirement by providing additional installation slot to other needed module or component. Though this bus expansion cable is designed for Right bank to Bank expansion, it does not literally mean the same. Banks or I/O modules may still be installed from top to bottom. This provides flexibility and panel space friendly installation. The 1769-CRR1 bus extension cable extends the communication bus allowing the controller to send and receive I/O data. It facilitates in providing the local communication highway, but it does not extend the backplane power. Each I/O bank must have a dedicated power supply installed and installed compact I/O within the I/O bank must comply with the power supply distance rating requirement. Installation of the bus expansion cable may produce electrical arc if done when the Compactlogix system is under power. It is recommended to install the bus expansion cable without power applied to the system to prevent electrical arc from occurring. Electrical arcs may damage the electronic circuitry of nearby electronic components and oxidize connection pins. Additionally, electrical arcs are not allowed in Hazardous areas or areas with combustible gases. Not adhering to the recommendation may cause improper machine or process operation, endanger lives, cause explosion and cause unplanned system shutdown which may result to production loss. Oxidized connection pins may contribute in poor bus connection resulting to intermittent data exchange which may also cause the same unwanted consequences. Additionally, bus expansion cables shall not be spliced. Bus expansion cables are provided with different lengths to cover the desired expansion distance. For increased protection, touch a grounded object to discharge static potential; Wear an approved wrist-strap grounding device; Never touch the bus connector or connector pins; Avoid touching electronic circuitry as well as the components installed in the circuit board; Work in a static-safe or properly grounded workstation before working with the bus expansion cable. If the cable is intended as a spare unit, keep the expansion bus cable within the anti-static bag if not in use.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-CRR1 is a 1769 Compact I/O Communication bus expansion cable. intended for the CompactLogix platforms. This cable allows implementation of CompactLogix I/O banks. This module is a Right bank-to-Right bank expansion cable with 1 ft. (305 mm).

F.A.Q for 1769-CRR1

Q: 1. What is the difference between 1769-CRL1 and 1769-CRR1?A: The difference between the communication cable are the expansion direction. The 1769-CRL1 expands the system in Right bank to left bank direction while the 1769- CRR1 expands the system in Right bank to Right bank direction.
Q: 2. What is the cable length of the 1769-CRR1? A: The cable length is 1 ft. (305 mm).
Q: 3. How many 1769-CRR1 is permitted for use? A: Using MicroLogix 1500, only One (1) 1769-CRR1 may be used. For 1769 CompactLogix, up to Two (2) expansion cables which translates to up to Three (3) I/O banks.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1769-CRR1 is a Compact I/O bus expansion communication cable. This communication bus expansion cable is used to extend the 1769 and MicroLogix controllers communication bus in Right bank-to-Right bank expansion direction. The expansion distance is limited by the cable?s length of 1 ft. For longer cable requirement, use 1769-CRR3 which measure 3.28 ft.
