About 1769-BA

The Allen-Bradley 1769-BA is a Lithium battery used by a variety of 1769 CompactLogix controllers. Lithium batteries installed to a controller retains the data and information stored to the controllers volatile memory. The 1769-BA primarily maintains the user program, configuration and program data within the controllers volatile memory. This battery is compatible for use with 1769-L23-QBFC1B, 1769-L23E-QB1B, 1769-L23E-QBFC1B 1769-L31 1769-L32C, 1769-L35CR 1769-L32E, and 1769-L35E controllers. 1769-L23x and 1769-L3x controllers are supplied with one 1769-BA lithium battery. The 1769-BA is a Cylindrical SE Type Cell that is actually manufactured by Sanyo and FDK. This battery is exempted from dangerous goods regulations meeting the requirements such as US DOT 49CFR, 173.185, Dangerous Goods Regulation, per IATA, Packing Instructions 968, Section II and Special Provisions ADR 188, IMDG 188. Replacing an existing 1769-BA requires a controller that is actively supplied with power. Doing so ensures that the controllers memory is retained via the active power supply. Removing a lithium battery while the controller is powered down puts the data stored to the controllers volatile memory at great risk of deletion due to the loss of maintaining power. The controller utilizes the 1769-BA only when shutdown or power is removed from the controller. If the controller is not using a non-volatile Secure Digital (SD) card or CompactFlash card, the battery may be removed even under shutdown condition. If non-volatile memory modules are not installed, avoid performing similar operation. The 1769-BA does not retain data of SD card and CompactFlash cards. Removed batteries shall be disposed accordingly, in compliance to local directives. Do not short-circuit, disassemble, deform, heat or incinerate the batteries. Never not pile up or mixed batteries with each other. Avoid placing batteries on metal case, metal plate or antistatic material. For multi cell application, replace all batteries to new at once when replacing used batteries. When storing the 1769-BA, store batteries in well-ventilated, dry and cool environmental conditions. Avoid direct contact to sunlight, away from water, condensate, rain, snow and frost. Storage area must be away from source of heat or nozzle of hot air. Take care not to get wet packing by dew condensation when packing is removed from cold to warm and humid condition. Enough number of fire fighting apparatuses should be installed in warehouse. The principal composition of the 1769-BA is Manganese Dioxide for Positive electrode, Lithium metal for Negative electrode and Lithium perchlorate, 1,2-Dimethoxyethane and Mixture of organic solvent for Electrolyte. The 1769-BA nominal output voltage is 3.0 VDC with nominal capacity of 850mAh and measures 0.58" diameter x 1.04" long. The battery also comes with wire leads for fast connection to the controllers circuitry. Controllers are also provided with BAT indicator used to monitor the battery charge and signal for replacement. When the BAT LED is activated, it signifies that battery charge is nearing depletion, usually days or a couple of weeks from the first time that the BAT indicator is activated. Proceed with replacing the battery as soon as possible.
