About 1769-ADN

The Allen-Bradley 1769-ADN is a DeviceNet communication module that is compatible for use with CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 controllers. This DeviceNet adapter module is primarily used to communicate with DeviceNet scanners in the DeviceNet network, allowing communication and data exchange between controllers and I/O modules. The 1769-ADN can perform data exchange between modern controllers including legacy controllers such as SLC 500 controller family. Up to Thirty (30) Compact I/O modules When used with 1769 CompactLogix system, the 1769-ADN installs to any adjacent 1769 module. The modules standard mounting is with the use of a DIN Rail or to a mounting plate. When used with a MicroLogix 1500, the module mounted after the MicroLogix base unit and act as an expansion module. When attaching a 1769-ADN adapter to a CompactLogix system, the bus connectors must be securely locked to create continuous electrical connection to allow backplane power to flow. The locking mechanisms shall engage smoothly if properly aligned however, if resistance is felt, disengage the module and ensure the connectors are properly aligned before proceeding again with the module installation. the 1769-ADN is available in Two (2) series releases specifically, series A and B modules. The main difference between the series are the power supply distance rating and modules backplane current. In series A DeviceNet adapter, the power supply distance rating is Four (4) which means the module must be installed within 4 slots from the power supply while the backplane current is 450mA at 5V dc (2.25W). In a Series B module, the power supply distance rating is improved to Five (5) slots and backplane current is 500mA at 5V dc (2. 5W). When installing the module, the recommended installation clearance is 50mm or 2 inches space on all sides of the module. This space will allow air to naturally flow for natural cooling and ventilation of the module. Additionally, the module has an open type enclosure rating which means that the module must be installed in an adequately sized and designed enclosure. Temperature within the enclosure may exceed the required operating temperature of the module which is 32F to 140F (0C to 60C). With this, climate control devices may be installed such as heater and cooler for maintain the required temperature. When selecting climate control devices, the modules heat dissipation of 4.7W maximum must be considered as well as the heat dissipation of other modules and electrical components installed within the same enclosure. The DeviceNet cable assignments are BLK Wire connect to -V, BLU Wire connected to CAN Low, Bare Wire connected to Drain, WHT Wire connected to CAN High and RED Wire connected to +V. DeviceNet address is set using the embedded rotary switches at the front panel of the module. Acceptable network address ranges from 00 through 63. If address is set to 95, system is reserved and should not be used for normal operation.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-ADN module is a CompactLogix communication module that meets the CE and cULus standards. This module belongs to the 1769 CompactLogix product family. It is a DeviceNet adapter module enabling DeviceNet connectivity. It has a single DeviceNet port and compatible for use with CompactLogix and MicroLogix 1500 controllers.
