About 1768-L45

The 1768-L45 is an Allen-Bradley manufactured Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that belongs to the 1768 CompactLogix product family ideally used in small to medium applications, for process and factory automation requirements. This control has a modular form that allows expansion of I/O quantity locally or with the use of I/O expansion banks. The 1768-L45 support installation of up to Four (4) 1768 I/O modules as local expansion modules while it is also compatible for installation of up to (30) 1769 Compact I/O modules as expansion I/O modules installed and distributed in Three (3) I/O banks. The 1768-L45 CompactLogix controller is also built with an RS232 communication interface supporting DF1 Point-to-Point; DF1 Master; DF1 Slave; DF1 Radio Modem; User (channel 0 only); DH-485. DF1 protocol is especially designed for user program upload and download, configuration modification and setup. User protocol is ideally used for ASCII communication, allowing the controller to communicate with ASCII devices such as barcode readers and printers. DH485 is ideally used for network communication, allowing the controller to join a DH485 network where remote I/O modules may be existing. The DH485 is commonly used with an Allen-Bradley manufactured external interface adapter for network communication. The 1768-L45s front panel has a keyswitch used for modification of the controllers operating mode, particularly switching to RUN, REMOTE and PRGRAM mode. It also has status indicators to report the modules operation state as well as the health of the expansion modules and the state of the data communication. The 1768-L45 supports compatible with 1768 communication modules such as 1768-ENBT communication module for Ethernet/IP protocol, 1768-EWEB which is a Web server module that supports Ethernet protocol as well with the capability ofremote monitoring and modification of data via an XML web page or standard web browser. The module also supports 1768-CNB and 1768-CNBR Modules for ControlNet communication. 1768-CNB is a ControlNet communication module for simplex network while the 1768-CNBr is used for redundant ControlNet communication. This controller is also compatible with Serial Real-time Communication System (SERCOS) modules as it supports up to Four (4) modules with maximum supported connections of 250 connections. The 1768-L43 is designed to be installed in a DIN rail along other 1768 CompactLogix modules or 1769 Compact I/O modules. It requires installation clearances of 105 mm (4.13 in.) for top and bottom and 90 mm (3.54 in.) for side clearances. These minimum clearances ensure proper air circulation for natural cooling and ventilation of the controller.
The Allen-Bradley 1768-L45 is a CompactLogix controller module from the 1768 CompactLogix family. This controller has Four (4) CompactLogix slots for installation of local modules, One (1) integral serial that supports RS232 communication standard.

F.A.Q for 1768-L45

Q: 1. What is the difference between 1768-L43 and 1768-L45?A: The difference between the controllers lies between the local I/O module and expansion module support. The 1768-L43 controller that support only Two (2) local modules and Sixteen (16) expansion I/Os while the 1768-L45 supports up to Four (4) loc
Q: 2. Can I use the 1768-L45 as replacement to the 1768-L43?A: Yes, however, hardware reconfiguration may be needed, and program download as well.
Q: 2. What is the integrated communication port of the 1768-L45?A: The 1768-L45 has an integral RS232 Serial communication port.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1768-L45 is a 1768 CompactLogix Controller with increased local I/O capacity and expansion bank density. Compared to the 1768-L43 controller that support only Two (2) local modules and Sixteen (16) expansion I/Os, the 1768-L45 supports up to Four (4) local I/O and Thirty (30) expansion modules which makes its ideal for use in larger automation systems.
