About 1768-L43S

The 1768-L43S is a Compact GuardLogix Controller. This controller features an integrated 2.0Mbyte Standard Memory and 0.5Mbyte Safety Memory. It has an integrated safety functionality with embedded RS232 communication port that supports a variety of industrially approved communication protocols. GuardLogix controllers are used for applications that include Safety requirement. It is certified for use in safety applications up to and including Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and Performance Level (e) where the de-energized state is the modules safe state. Probability of failures measured as PFD and PFH, system reaction time settings, and function verification tests fulfilling SIL 3 / PLe criteria are some of the safety requirements supported by this module. Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices may be used with the 1768-L43S GuardLogix controller. These HMI devices may be configured to access standard HMI tags similar to standard controllers however, safety tags cannot be written by HMI devices. Only monitoring function is permitted. The 1768-L43S has an integrated RS232 serial port that supports DF1 Point-to-Point, DF1 Master, DF1 Slave, DF1 Radio Modem, User and DH485 protocols. Up to 15.2 meters or 50 ft is the maximum length supported by RS232 communication. The 1768-L43S Compact GuardLogix controller also has a keyswitch installed on the front panel, used to set the controllers operating mode such as RUN, PROGRAM (PROG) and REMOTE (REM). This GuardLogix controller supports both 1768 modules as local I/O modules and 1769 Compact I/O modules as Remote I/O or Distributed I/O modules. Up to Two (2) local I/O modules is supported by the 1768-L43S and up to Sixteen (16) 1769 Compact I/O modules are supported that may be distributed in Three (3) I/O banks. The 1768-L43S supports up to 250 connections.
