About 1768-ENBT

The 1768-ENBT is an Ethernet communication module that enables a 1768-L43 and 1768-L45 controllers exchanged data and control devices over Ethernet I/P protocol. This module is a single slot module with an embedded Ethernet communication port that support communication with a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet network. This module is capable of messaging features that is useful in exchanging data between controllers with the use of message instruction. It also supports connection with Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Remote I/O systems. This module supports an industry and user-friendly protocol Ethernet I/P that is easily scalable, without the need of proprietary and sophisticated accessories to connect and create a network. The 1768-ENBT is compatible for use with standard, commercially available switches. Aside from the previously mentioned compatible partner devices, this module is also compatible for direct communication with 1336 Drives, PowerFlex drives, Power Monitor systems, Bullettin 150 Smart Controller, ControlLogix, 1769 CompactLogix, Stratix network devices, Motor Starter, Kinetix Drives, Encompass partner modules, 3rd party , and many more devices. This module offers a wider support than any other module in the Controller family. The 1768-ENBT supports connection of up to 64 Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) and 32 TC)/Ip connections. CIP is a standard protocol that is made compatible for use of devices and controllers, to allow direct communication and integration of their available data in enterprise level network using over Ethernet. The number of supported connection may exist simultaneously and may be deployed in different location of the system, within the Ethernet cable limits of 100 meters. Should a longer distance is needed, conversion to Fiber Optic or Wi-fi may be implemented. Up to Two (2) 1768-ENBT may be installed along a 1768-L43 processor while up to Four (4) 1768-ENBT is supported if 1768-L45 processor is used. This module supports linear topology with the use of Cat5 or Cat6 cable as the primary medium with RJ45 connectors at both ends of the cable for connection to the RJ45 port of the module and the partner device. With the BOOTP utility, the module?s MAC address is searched and with the user assigning an specific IP address to the target MAC address. For a more complex Ethernet Network, RSNetworx for Ethernet may be used. Module installation may be done with the use of a standard DIN Rail or directly to the mounting plate using mounting screws. Compatible DIN rail size are 35 x 7.5 mm or 35 x 15 mm. Whichever installation method is used, the module requires Top and Bottom spacing of 4 inches and Side clearances of 3.54 inches.
The Allen-Bradley 1768-ENBT is a CompactLogix communications module from the 1768 CompactLogix family. This module is an Ethernet I/P communication module that enables a 1768 Controller assembly to connect to Ethernet I/P network. This module has One (1) Ethernet port which supports 10/100 Mbps communication with auto-negotiation function, in half-duplex or full-duplex operation.

F.A.Q for 1768-ENBT

Q: 1. Which CompactLogix Controller is compatible with 1768-ENBT?A: Only CompactLogix 1768-L43 and 1768-L45 support local installation of the module.
Q: 2. How many local instance of 1768-ENBT can I install along the supported controllers?A: Up to Two (2) instance of 1768-ENBT modules is supported by 1768-L43 and Four (4) -ENBT modules is allowed with 1768-L45.
Q: 3. Are commercially available switches compatible with the 1768-ENBT? Does it support Fiber optic and Wireless communication?A: Commercially available Ethernet switches and devices can be used with the 1768- ENBT module. Ethernet covers 100 m distance. For longer communication paths, Ethernet to Fiber Optic and Fiber Optic to Ethernet conversion is supported. Additionally

PDFsupply Tech

The 1768-ENBT is an Allen-Bradley communication module that supports Ethernet I/P communication. This module has wider integration support compared to 1768-CNB. Additionally, components of the 1768-ENBT are commercially available an may use typical networking devices. This is one of the primary reason why Ethernet is the more popular communication protocol nowadays. Additionally, Ethernet is much easier to scale horizontally across the plant floor and vertically, up to the enterprise level. This module supports linear topology only.
