The Allen-Bradley 1791D-8B8P CompactBlock I/O 1791D base block module is an industrial I/O module. This module has 8 universal or sink inputs and 8 source outputs. It operates at a voltage rating of 10 to 30 Volts DC. The NEMA inputs on the 1791D-8B8P module are compatible with several sensors. The integrated hardware watchdog function sets the module’s outputs to a known state if the crystal or microprocessor in the system fails. Installing the 1791D-8B8P module near sensors and actuators in a system helps to reduce wiring costs. The 1791D-8B8P module has a compact size and does not require an external adapter or power supply. The I/O module can detect the baud rate in a system, which prevents system crashes caused by incorrect baud rate settings. The ability to set module addresses via the rotary switches reduces commissioning time. The 1791D-8B8P module has been tested for ODVA compliance, which ensures interoperability with DeviceNet systems. Operators can use the 1791D-8B8P I/O module with Allen-Bradley SoftLogix, SLC, and PLC controllers that have DeviceNet scanners. The module works as a slave in a master-slave system. It can be configured as a polled device. The 1791D-8B8P module can also be used for cyclic operation. Power for the module is supplied by the DeviceNet network. It can be mounted on a DIN rail or onto a panel. The approximate dimensions of the 1791D-8B8P module are 150 x 48 x 38 millimeters.
