About ILX34-MBS485

The ILX34-MBS485 is a MODBUS is a Serial Communication Interface that is made by an encompass partner company, Prosoft Technology for Allen-Bradley. This module is directly mounted to POINT I/O terminal and may be used along any other POINT I/O module. It may also be used with CompactLogix L1 controllers. The ILX34-MBS485 is a single slot module, with One (1) communication port that supports RS422 and RS485 communication standard. This communication interface has configurable parameters such as Baud rate ranging from 110 to 38.4K baud, Stop Bits with selection of 0 and 1, Data size with selection of 7 or 8 bits, and Parity with selection of None, Even and Odd. The communication port may be operated in MODBUS RTU mode or ASCII mode. The ILX34-MBS485 supports MODBUS function codes including 1: Read Coil Status, 2: Read Input Status, 3: Read Holding Registers, 4: Read Input Registers, 5: Force (Write) Single Coil, 6: Preset (Write) Single Holding Register, 8: Diagnostics (Slave Only, Responds to Sub function 00), 15: Force( Write) Multiple Coils, and 16: Preset (Write) Multiple Holding Registers. If configured in MOSBUS RTU mode, the communication interface is ideal for use in Power systems integration wherein Power meters and other Intelligent Electronic Devices may be connected in daisy chain configuration, allowing simultaneous data exchange. It may also be used as direct interface to Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), gateways, OPC servers and other electronic and applications. The same interface supports ASCII communication wherein the module can be configured to receive barcodes from a connected scanner for extracting information kept within. This application is typically found in manufacturing, packaging and processing industries wherein processes are typically in batches. The ASCII decodes the barcode data and which is then configured in the PLC to segregate products accordingly. Up to 1000 words of data and up to 30 commands wherein 36 words per command is supported by this module. The serial port of the ILX34-MBS485 is configurable as MODBUS master or slave and may also be controlled by enabling or disabling through the user program. The POINTBus current draw of the module is 75 mA @ 5 VDC with serial line voltage of -15 to +15 VDC. The moduleÕs operating temperature requirement is -4¡F to 131¡F or -20¡C to 55¡C with relative humidity of 5% to 95% RH with no condensation. Operating shock and vibration of the module is 30g Peak acceleration and Tested 5g @ 10 to 500 Hz respectively. If module will act as a spare unit, store the module in a location with temperature of -40¡F to 185¡F or -40¡C to 85¡C. The built-in status indicators provide local monitoring of the moduleÕs operation state particularly module status via the single green/red LED; network status via the single green/red network status indicator and status indicators via the Two (2) green TXD, RXD labeled LED indicators.
The Allen-Bradley ILX34-MBS485 is a Modbus Serial Module for CompactLogix L1 and Point I/O Adapters. This module is manufactured by Prosoft Technologies, an Allen-Bradley encompass partner company. This module has One (1) Full-Duplex channel support RS485 communication standard and supports baud rate 110 to 38.4K baud.
