About ILX34-MBS232
The ILX34-MBS232 is a Modbus Serial Module used for CompactLogix L1 and Point I/O Adapters. This module is manufactured by Prosoft Technology, an encompass partner company of Allen-Bradley. This module is ideally used for application that require serial connectivity using RS232 communication standard. This module has an integrated RS232 communication interface supporting baud rate of 110 to 38.4K baud. It ay be operated in MODBUS RTU (binary) with CRC-16 mode or ASCII mode with LRC error checking. It may also be used to capture data or Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) that are typically used for electrical systems. The module has features support for creation of Add-on instructions particularly UDTs, t oprovide logical definition for I/O, status and control data. The module also supports up to 1000 words of data and up to 30 commands which can contain up to 36 words per command. The serial port of the ILX34-MBS232 is configurable as MODBUS master or slave and may also be controlled by enabling or disabling through the user program. This module supports a variety of MODBUS function codes such as 1: Read Coil Status, 2: Read Input Status, 3: Read Holding Registers, 4: Read Input Registers, 5: Force (Write) Single Coil, 6: Preset (Write) Single Holding Register, 8: Diagnostics (Slave Only, Responds to Sub function 00), 15: Force( Write) Multiple Coils, and 16: Preset (Write) Multiple Holding Registers. Configurable node address range is 1 to 247. The ILX34-MBS232 is provided with One (1) green/red module status indicator; One (1) green/red network status indicator and Two (2) green TXD, RXD status indicators. The module status indicator reports. This serial interface module is installed to POINT I/O 1734-TB or -TBS wiring base assembly (not included) 1734-TOP or -TOPS. It can be used along any other POINT I/O modules without conflict as this module is especially made in compatibility with POINT I/O and CompactLogix system. The module has a POINTBus current draw of 75 mA @ 5 VDC and serial line voltage of -15 to +15 VDC. The moduleÕs operating temperature requirement is -4¡F to 131¡F or -20¡C to 55¡C with relative humidity of 5% to 95% RH with no condensation. Operating shock and vibration of the module is 30g Peak acceleration and Tested 5g @ 10 to 500 Hz respectively.
