About 1734D-IB16S

The 1734D-IB16S is a POINTBlock module. This module is manufactured by Allen-Bradley used for implementing Remote I/O or Distributed I/O architecture. POINTBlock I/O modules are compact modules, with the 1734D-IB16S built with an embedded DeviceNet communication Interface and Sixteen (16) 24VDC input channels. POINTBlock I/Os, including the 1734D-IB16S are DIN rail mountable modules, with Removable Terminal Blocks (RTB). Specific for this module, the 1734D-IB16S uses spring clamp terminal connections. This module also supports installation of additional Twelve (12) POINT I/O modules or up to additional 64 I/O channels. When connected to the DeviceNet network, the POINTBlock module 1734D-IB16S presents itself as a single DeviceNet node with MAC-ID switches for dialing starting address. Supported DEviceNet transmission speed includes 125K, 250K or 500K bits/second and conforms to the ODVA standard for safety and reliability. Spring clamp terminal are advantageous in application with constant vibration and shock as the spring applies constant torque to the wire however, ensure that the module is operated within a vibration and shock rating of Tested 5g @ 10-500Hz per IEC 68-2-6 standard and 30g peak acceleration, 11(±1)ms pulse width. Spring clamp terminals are faster to terminate and does not require use of ferrules or lugs to improve connection. Appropriate wire size for the moduleÕs terminal block is 14 AWG (2.5mm2 ) - 22 AWG (0.25mm2 ), solid or stranded Copper wire with insulation rating of 75 Degree Celsius or higher and maximum insulation thickness of 3/64 inch (1.2mm). The 1734D-IB16SÕ nominal input voltage is 24VDC with range of 10-28.8 VDC. The moduleÕs minimum ON state voltage is 10.0VDC and 28.8VDC as the maximum ON state Voltage. The minimum ON state current is 2.5mA min with maximum ON state current of 7.6 mA while the nominal On state current is 6.3mA at 24VDC. The 1734D-IB16S is compatible for use with field signaling devices that operate in Two states, ON and OFF. Some of these devices are mechanical switches, electrical switches, auxiliary contacts, 2-wire and 3-wrie sensors and other devices with similar actuation. Data of the input devices are stored to a 16-bit register sequentially. This data map is being accessed by devices residing in the DeviceNet network such as scanner and DeviceNet enabled controllers. With the data available to the partner devices, the 1734D-IB16S can be treated as a local I/O of the controller. The POINTBlock moduleÕs POINTBus output current is 1A max @ 5V dc output power with DeviceNet current of 95mA maximum for POINTBlock 350mA for maximum with expansion of Twelve (12) POINT I/O modules or 64 additional I/O points. This module has an isolation voltage of 850V dc for 1s between user power and DeviceNet with rated Power Dissipation and consumption of 2.0W maximum @ 24V dc and 8.2W maximum @ 24VDC respectively. The POINTBlock 1734D-IB16 has built-in status indicators such as One (1) red/ green module status indicator; One (1) red/green network status indicator and Sixteen (16) yellow I/O status indicators. The modules dimension is 3.00H x 2.36W x 5.25L inches or 76.2 Hx 60.0W x 133.4L mm.
The Allen-Bradley 1734D-IB16S is a POINTBlock DC Input module. This module has Sixteen (16) 10-28.8 VDC input channels. It has an integrated DeviceNet communication interface and a wiring block that uses spring clamp connections.

F.A.Q for 1734D-IB16S

Q: 1. What is the difference between 1734D-IB16 and 1734D-IB16S?A: The 1734D-IB16 uses cage clamp connections while the 1734D-IB16S uses spring clamp connections.
Q: 2. What is the recommended wire size for this module? A: Use 14 AWG (2.5mm2 ) - 22 AWG (0.25mm2 ) solid or stranded copper rated @ 75¡C or greater 3/64 inch (1.2mm) insulation max.
Q: 3. Can I use ferrules or lugs when terminating signal wires to the module?A: Ferrules are optional, it is recommended to simply strip the wire and allow the spring clamp to hold the wire into place. Lugs cannot be used with this type of terminal block.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1734D-IB16S is a POINTBlock module with Sixteen (16) 24VDC input channels. The functionality of this module is very similar to the 1734D-IB16 except that the 1734D-IB16S uses spring clamp terminal blocks. Spring clamp terminal blocks allows faster and more efficient way or connecting signal wires to the module.
