The Ten (10) 1734-RTB3 Removable Terminal Blocks (RTB) are Twelve (12) cage clamp terminals that enables field devices to connect to the installed POINT I/O module via hardwiring. This terminal block is designed for Solid or Stranded copper wire with wire size range of 0.25-2.5 mm_ or 22-14 AWG. Additionally, insulation rating requirement is 75 ¡C or 167 ¡F or greater with insulation thickness 1.2mm or 3/64 inches. This terminal does not require ferrules or lugs attached to the end of the signal wire. It simply requires an appropriately stripped wire at lengths of 14±1 mm or 0.55±0.03 if single wire is used or 16±1 mm or 0.63±0.03 in if 2 wire is used. To terminate wire to the cage clamp terminals, a small, flat head screwdriver is needed. Use a screwdriver that fits straight through the RTBÕs clamp trigger. Insert the screwdriver while simultaneously applying firm pressure in rocking motion. This disengages the terminalÕs locking mechanism which creates an opening, allowing the wire to be inserted. Once the wire is inserted, release the screwdriver to re-engage the clamp. This locks the wire into place and makes it more susceptible to vibration and shock. The mounting base is used by the POINT I/O system as module interface to the POINT I/O bus. The mounting base allows the module to be seated and at the same time connects the module to the backplane by means of the interlocking side pieces. The interlocking side pieces contains the pins where the POINTBus current is distributed up to the last module. Every mounting base is equipped with connection pins. With this, the last module shall have the cover installed to terminate the backplane and protect the pins from foreign materials especially conductive objects that may short the terminals.
