About 1734-RTB3S

The 1734-RTB3S is a Removable Terminal Block (RTB) that belongs to the POINT I/O product family. This POINT I/O component is manufactured. The 1734-RTB3S has Twelve (12) spring clamp terminals which promote faster and efficient wiring of signal and output devices connected to the module. The 1734-RTB3S, similar to any Removable Terminal Block, provides a modular connection in which the RTB may be removed and re-inserted to the mounting base without the need of removing the connected wires. Additionally, the 1734-RTB3S may also be attached to different mounting bases. With this feature, the RTB contributes to faster and efficient troubleshooting and commissioning of the POINT I/O modules that utilizes it. The Spring clamp terminal type also enables faster point-to-point wiring compared to traditional screw type terminal blocks. Signal wires are terminated to the terminals with the use of a small flat head screwdriver. The screwdriver pushes the spring to create an opening where the wire can be inserted. Once the stripped portion of the wire is fully inserted, the screwdriver is removed. The internal spring automatically latches and hold the wire into place. The recommended strip length for a 12 Terminal Removable Terminal Block such as the 1734-RTB3S are 14±1 mm (0.55±0.03 in) for 1 wire and 16±1 mm (0.63±0.03 in) for 2 wire connections while recommended torque is 0.6 Nm (7 lb-in). The benefits of this wiring method include an increased susceptibility to vibration, low contact resistance, faster and cheaper, among others. The 1734-RTB3S is generally a component of POINT I/O wiring base assembly. It is also used as a replacement to a specific terminal base such as 1734-TB3S. The wiring base assembly is composed of the Removable Terminal Block itself as well as the DIN rail locking screw, Mounting base, interlocking side pieces and mechanical keying. Removable Terminal Block (RTB) provide the interfaces the POINT I/O module installed to the mounting base. Similarly, the RTB is also installed to the same mounting base to connect physical devices to the utilized POINT I/O module. The 1734-RTB3S may be used with 1734 POINT I/O input modules, to connect the module to field input devices and 1734 POINT I/O output devices to provide connection to Final Control Element (FCE) or output devices. However, whenever the RTB is installed or reinserted to the mounting base, simple steps may be followed to ensure that the 1734-RTB3S is connected properly. Firstly, insert the 1734-RTB3SÕ end opposite of the handle. The end section has a curved section that engages directly to the wiring base. Once the RTB is positioned, rotate the Removable Terminal Block into the wiring base which will allow the RTB to lock into place. If a POINT I/O module is already existing, it does not need to be removed. Simply snap the RTB handle into place on the module. When installing the Removable Terminal Block, use a soft and dry cloth to wipe unwanted contaminants on the surface and body of the RTB. It is recommended to use cloth with anti-static capability. Never use any cleaning agents such as bleach, even water.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-RTB3S is a POINT I/O Removable Terminal Block (RTB) with Twelve (12) spring clamp terminals. This terminal block is a replacement unit for the 1734-TB3S.
