About 1734-RTB

The 1734-RTB is a POINT I/O component that belongs to the 1734 POINT I/O product family of scalable and compact Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) component. This component is a passive device, used to provide termination points to field devices via the embedded Eight (8) terminals. The 1734-RTBÕs terminals are of cage clamp type which provides a faster way of connecting field devices to the POINT I/O module. The 1734-RTB is compatible for use with a variety of POINT I/O module. The Removable Terminal Block (RTB) can be detached to the mounting base without the existing wirings removed. This allows any user to easily replace the mounting base or the POINT I/O module without the need of conducting wire tracing and rewiring. It also contributes to faster troubleshooting time as modules may be easily disassembled without losing an existing connection. Though the terminal block is removable, it must be observed that removing and inserting may produce electrical arcs which carries the possibility of damaging nearby modules. If possible, only remove the RTB if power is not present from the backplane or input devices. The 1734-RTB is also a replacement component to the 1734-TB. This module requires 0.6 Nm or 7 lb-in screw Torque. When wiring the field devices to the terminal block, Solid or stranded copper wire may be used with wire size range of 0.25-2.5 mm_ or 22-14 AWG. Insulation rating should be rated at 75 ¡C or 167 ¡F, with maximum insulation of thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.). Wire must be stripped at a length of 16±1 mm or 0.63±0.03 in for single wire and 18±1 mm or 0.71±0.03 in for 2-wire. The 1734-RTB is mounted to a 1734 mounting base. The RTB separates independently of the I/O mounting base and I/O module to facilitate rapid installation and commissioning of the system. To install the Removable Terminal Block (RTB) to the mounting base, insert the end opposite of the handle into the mounting base unit. The terminal block must be rotated and aligned to the mounting base until the RTB automatically locks into place. If an I/O module is installed before the RTB, snap the RTB into place on the module. Once the RTB is mounted, it must be removed before the mounting base is uninstalled to the DIN rail. To uninstall the mounting base, modules installed to the right must be detached first from the interlocking pins. If the RTB has field wiring present, simply uninstall the RTB. This may be accomplished by unlatching the RTB handle on the POINT I/O module and pulling the RTB handle to remove the unit from mounting base. The 1734-RTB has cage-clamp terminals. With this type of terminal, a small flat-blade screw is needed to insert the wires into the terminals. 1734-RTB Terminals are numbered and labeled which can be found on the RTB. This is to simplify troubleshooting especially in commissioning or maintenance events of the system. Replacement or spare RTBs can be ordered separate from the terminal base assembly.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-RTB is a POINT I/O Removable Terminal Block (RTB) with Eight (8) cage clamp terminal. This terminal block is a replacement unit for the 1734-TB.
