The Allen-Bradley module with catalog number 1734-OB8S is a safety output module that belongs to the POINT Guard I/O product family. This module features Eight (8) current sourcing safety output channels that operates at Voltage range of 19.2-28.8VDC with nominal output voltage of 24VDC. Each of the channel is capable of producing 1.0 A with a total module current of 8.0 A. The 1734-OB8S may be operated in Dual-channel or Single Channel mode. Single Channel mode controls provides control via single channel output which makes the module compatible for use in Safety applications Category 2 and Level d and SIL CL2 rated applications. Dual channel mode is used for providing control via Two (2) output signal channel, enabling the module for use in applications that require safety category 3 and 4 and applications rated Performance Level e and SIL CL3. In both modes, the channelÕs Point Mode settings are configured to Safety Pulse Test. Single channel mode is certified only for functional safety applications. Appropriate process safety times must be greater than or equal to 600 ms. It may also be used in application with demand rates that are less than or equal to One (1) demand per minute. The 1734-OB8E is also installed with short circuit detection which may be a short high and low and cross circuit fault detection. Additionally, the module also has internal short-circuit protection for such wiring fault events. The safety outputs of the 1734-OB8S may be pulse tested for detection of field wiring short circuits to 24VDC. Each channel of the 1734-OB8E has adjustable filter time for both OFF to ON and ON to OFF transitions with filter adjustments of ) 0É126 ms, available in 6 ms increments. If the digital POINT Guard I/O is used with POINT Guard analog module, the Add-on profiles must be updated to version 2.02. If the module will be directly configured using Studio 5000 Environment, minimum required version is Version 21. The 1734-OB8S is equipped with status indicator via Light Emitting Diodes (LED). These LED indicators are used to report the lock, power and individual channel indicators. It has One (1) yellow lock status indicator, One (1) green/yellow power status indicator and Eight (8) I/O channel status indicators. The 1734-OB8E is compatible for installation to a variety of terminal bases such as 1734-TB, 1734-TBS, 1734-TOP, 1734-TOPS, 1734-TOP3, 1734-TOP3S. The moduleÕs keyswitch positions are Key 1 = 8 (left) and Key 2 = 2 (right). This module is not rated for Pilot duty rated loads.
