The 1734-IV8 is an Allen-Bradley product that belongs to the 1734-Point I/O product family. This module is a high-density module with Eight (8) 24VDC discrete input channel, compatible for source wiring configuration. This module operates at voltage range of 10.00 - 28.8VDC. As part of the 1734 POINT I/O system, this module is a distributed I/O component, compatible with POINT I/O communication adapters such as 1734-AENT (Ethernet), 1734-ACNR (ControlNet), 1734-AND (DeviceNet), 1734-APB (ProdiBus). It is also compatible with system expansion power supplies to allow expansion of a POINT I/O rack, up to 63 modules. The 1734-IV8 interfaces input devices that is capable of Two (2) position actuation such as ON / OFF or 1 and 0. Such devices include switches of different varieties, sensors and auxiliary contacts. The input channels of this module considers a signal as ON or 1 if the voltage level is within 10-28.8VDC while a 5VDC or lesser voltage level is being treated as an OFF signal by the module. Filter times are important parameter used to fine tune the input channels. Some input devices, such as mechanically actuated switches are prone to contact bounces while electronic sensors are easily affected by noise and interference. These mechanical and electrical noises may produce short pulses of valid signal level, triggering false positive reading. Input filters helps eliminate this event. The 1734-IV8 electronic circuitry is powered through the POINTBus current of 75 mA @ 5V DC with Power Dissipation of 1.6 W @ 28.8V DC and Thermal Dissipation of 5.5 BTU/hr @ 28.8V DC. It has an isolation voltage of 50V continuous Tested to withstand 2500V DC for 60 s. This module requires terminal base with catalog number 1734-TB or 1734-TBS wiring base assembly. Use solid and stranded copper wire with diameter of 0.25-2.5 mm2 or 22-14 AWG. This module has One (1) LED indicator for Module Status, One (1) LED indicator for Network status and Eight (8) LED indicators for channel status. Install this module to a DIN rail, adjacent with other 1734 POINT I/O modules. Use Yellow Chromate or Zinc plated Din rail. Maintain an operating temperature of -20É +55 ¡C (-4É+131 ¡F) and maximum surrounding air temperature of 55 ¡C (131 ¡F). Use appropriate climate control devices to maintain the required temperature. Operating the devices within this environment contributes to maximizing the modules operational lifespan. Similarly, maintain shock and vibration of 5 g @ 10É500 Hz and 30 g respectively.
