The POINT I/O module with catalog number 1734-IV4 is a Discrete input module. This module is manufactured by Allen-Bradley, used as discrete input module. It has Four (4) input channels with each channel compatible for 10-28.8 Voltage range. This module occupies a single POINT I/O slot and compatible for operation with any available 1734 communication adapters. Use the 1734-IV4 to integrate up to Four (4) discrete field devices, or instruments with ON/OFF status indicators. This module is an 8-bit or 1-Byte module. Channel 0 data is stored in Module bit 0, Channel 1 to module bit 1, Channel 2 to module bit 2 and Channel 3 to module bit 3. This module data registers are the information being accessed by the processor for monitoring of the moduleÕs channels and inclusion to the logic. It also has LED status indicators, used to provide the information regarding the moduleÕs operational status, Network status and I/O status indicator. Module status may report if the module is operating normally, needs correction to the deviceÕ configuration, Recoverable fault, unrecoverable fault which may also mean hardware replacement and self-test mode status. Network status may imply that the device has not completed MAC ID test, connection is not yet established, I/O connections are in Timed-out state, Critical link failure, and communication faulted device. The individual I/O status LEDs report whether the channel is actively receiving an input signal. The moduleÕs minimum ON state voltage and current signal is 10VDC at 2mA while the maximum ON state signal is 28.8 VDC. At 5 mA. This module supports wiring 2- wire or 3-wire sensors in sourcing configuration. When wiring 2-wire sensors, Terminate the Positive (+) labeled wire to input terminals 0, 1, 2,3 and 4. Terminate the negative (-) terminal to terminals 4 and 5 as these are the moduleÕs common terminal. When wiring a 3-wire input device, the 3rd wire of the sensor must be terminated to the moduleÕs terminal 6 and 7 as these terminals are supplied with 12/24VDC power, provided by the internal bus. Use solid or stranded copper wire with diameter of 0.25-2.5 mm2 or 22-14 AWG with insulation temperature rating of 75 ¡C or 167 ¡F or greater. Aside from the filter time, other configurable parameter of the module includes connection properties where module inhibition and module reaction to fault in RUN mode may be configured. Install as many 1734-IV4 as required by the system. A single POINT I/O rack may accommodate up to 63 modules which can be a mix of different type of modules or a single type.
