The Allen-Bradley 1734-IE2V is an analog input module that belongs to the POINT I/O Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) component. This module is an analog input module, designed for use with devices that provides voltage signals in representing the measured process variable. This module is commonly used in process industries for measuring Flow, Temperature, Level, Pressure, Concentration, Turbidity, Viscosity, Speed and other process variables. The 1734-IE2V features an embedded Two (2) Voltage input channels, compatible for use with input voltage signals of 0...10V user configurable (-0.0V under, +0.5V over) and ±10V user configurable (-0.5V under, +0.5V over). It has a resolution of 16 bits Ð over 0...21 mA or 0.32 _A/cnt which is relatively high compared to most analog input modules which has 13 or 14 bit resolution. This module has 0.1% Full Scale @ 25 ¡C (77 ¡F) with Accuracy drift with referenve to temperature of 5 ppm/¡C. Use of analog input module allows continuous monitoring of analog signals, It is also a requirement if planning to implement a fully-automatic analog control loop or commonly called as a closed loop system using Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) control algorithm. Typical sources of analog signal that may be interfaced to the 1734-IE2V are transmitters, indicators, recorders, signal conditioners, signal converters, isolators and other instruments. Analog input module functions by converting the received input signal to a binary data via the built-in Analog to Digital converter circuit. For the 1734-IE2V analog Voltage input module, the internal conversion made via Delta-Sigma conversion type. The converted data is saved in signed integer format which is a 16-Bit register with range of -32767 to +32768 raw value. This raw value must be conditioned via a scaling instruction to convert to engineering units that matches to the field process variable. Each channel of the 1734-IE2V is allocated with 16-Bit register or 1-Word each. Another 16-Bit register is created where the status bytes of the input channels is stored. These status bytes contain the input signal quality as well as the over range and under range monitoring. These registers are being accessed by the master controller or scanner in the network via the POINT I/O communication adapter to create a local I/O image. The status byte stores each input channelÕs status such as OR = Overrange; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault UR = Underrange; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault HHA = High/High Alarm; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault LLA = Low/Low Alarm; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault HA = High Alarm; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault LA = Low Alarm; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault CM = Calibration Mode; 0 = Normal, 1 = Calibration mode CF = Channel Fault Status; 0 = No error, 1 = Fault. These bytes may also be accessed by computer-based control systems such as a Human Machine Interface (HMI) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for remote monitoring and notification services.
