About 1734-IB8

The 1734-IB8 is an Allen-Bradley manufactured electronic component that functions as Discrete Input Module. This module belongs to the bulletin 1734 POINT I/O Product family of compact and modular Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) component. It is primarily used to interface field devices particularly binary operating signaling devices to enable the PLC or PLC detect their current state and use these data for processing of user defined logic. The 1734-IB8 has Eight (8) non-isolated channels, grouped into a single group of Eight (8) channels, that support sinking wiring configuration. Each channel is compatible for 24VDC input voltage signal with an acceptable input voltage range of 10.0-28.8VDC. Each input channel is provided with individually configurable filter settings for both OFF to ON and ON to OFF transitions. Filter settings are valuable tuning parameters for input modules as this parameter helps in preventing false positive and false negative signal detection. These untrue states are sometimes detected by the input channels due to electrical noise, physical disturbances, uncleaned or corroded contacts of mechanically switching devices and some other factors. Additionally, the 1734-IB8 has a POINTBus current draw of 75 mA at 5VDC. Despite having more input channels, the current draw remains the same compared to similarly functioning modules but with lower input channel density. It has a Module status and Network status indicator, each represented by a dedicated LED light, and Eight (8) I/O status indicator for displaying the state of the field input device, whether ON or OFF. This module is installed to a DIN rail, similar to other POINT I/O modules. Use yellow-chromate or zinc plated DIN rail. It is not recommended to use non-conductive, corrosion and oxidation prone materials. DIN rail connects the moduleÕs chassis ground to the enclosures PE terminal. The modules physical dimension is 56 x 12 x 75.5 mm or 2.2 x 0.47 x 2.97 inches. The 1734-IB8 is compatible for use with POINT I/O communication adapters, Power Supply Expansion modules, and termination accessory modules to allow installation to any part of the POINT I/O assembly. The moduleÕs keyswitch position is position 1. There is no limit to the number of module installation instances. It is only limited by the number of supported POINT I/O modules in a rack and the number of POINT I/O nodes supported by a specific communication module and the I/O capability of the controller. It occupies a single POINT I/O slot despite the increased input channel capacity. When successfully configured, the module creates 1-Byte of data or 8-bits where each individual bits represent the moduleÕs channels. This 8-bit register is being accessed by the communication adapter via the POINTBus backplane and transmitted by the communication adapter to the master controller or scanner via the communication data highway.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-IB8 is a POINT I/O Discrete Input module. This module has Eight (8) sinking input channels, operating at 10-28.8VDC voltage range. It is compatible with any POINT I/O communication adapters.
