About 1734-IA4

The POINT I/O module with catalog number 1734-IA4 is an Allen-Bradley product. This module is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) component that is used to interface field devices that operate in binary of ON/OFF mode. This discrete module allows monitoring of field signaling devices as well as integration to controller logic. The 1734-IA4 module has Four (4) embedded input channels that belongs to a single group. These input channels are non-isolated channels that support sinking configuration. Some of compatible devices for interfacing with discrete input modules include switches such as limit switches, reed switches; Pushbutton and hand manually initiated signaling devices that are typically installed in an enclosure; auxiliary contacts such as motor running feedback, thermal overload, interposing circuits and device output status. The operating voltage range of voltage range of this module is 85-132VAC with nominal input value of 120VAC. The ON-state current ranges from 4.0-8.5mA with nominal value of 7.5 mA. The moduleÕs maximum OFF state voltage is 43VAC and maximum OFF state current of 2.7 mA at 43VAC. The module draws POINTBus current amounting to 75 mA @ 5V DC, while the power dissipation of this module is 0.35 W @ 132VAC and Thermal dissipation of 1.19 BTU/hr @ 132V AC. Maintain an operating temperature of -20 to 55 degree Celsius. Install an appropriate cooling and heating device with the thermal dissipation of each module taken into consideration. Additionally, limit vibration and shock at 5 g @ 10...500 Hz and 30 g. Install shock and vibration limiting devices to maximize the operation lifespan of the module. POINT I/O modules are required to be installed to a terminal base or wiring assemblies. Similarly, the 1734-IA4 requires this installation bases as well. Compatible terminal bases are 1734-TB, 1734-TBS, 1734-TOP, or 1734-TOPS. These terminal assemblies are provided with chassis ground terminals which connect to the chassis ground and DIN rail connection. It is advisable to use a DIN rail that is made of good conductive material particularly yellow chromate or zinc plated DIN rail. This ensures that intermittent grounding connection is prevented. Other DIN rail materials like plastic will not aid in establishing ground connection while material that oxidize or corrode may exhibit good conductivity from the start but may diminish due to the effect of corrosion and oxidation. The 1734-IA4 automatically creates 1-Byte or 8-bit register where bit 0 and 1 are reserved as the moduleÕs input data image. The input register are being accessed by the communication adapter through the POINTBus. Data is transferred by the communication to the master controller through the communication protocol. This module is also installed with LED indicators that display information regarding Module status and Network status LED as well as individual I/O status LED.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-IA4 is a POINT I/O Discrete Input module. This module has Four (4) non-isolated sinking input channels, operating at 85-132VAC voltage range. It is compatible with any POINT I/O communication adapters.

F.A.Q for 1734-IA4

Q: 1. Can I use this module for Source wiring configuration?A: No, it only supports sinking wiring configuration. An external conversion may be needed to make the field device compatible with this module.
Q: 2. Is this product an active Product?A: Yes, the entire POINT I/O family remains an active product.
Q: 3. How many instances of this module is allowed for use?A: There is no limit however, it must not exceed the supported 63 modules per POINT I/O rack and power supply extension modules must be installed.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1734-IA4 is a Four (4) channel Discrete input module that is compatible for input voltage range of 85-132VAC. This module has a very similar function compared to the 1734-IA2 except that it has higher Input density compared to the latter. Individually, this module may slightly cost higher than the 1734-IA2 however, when used in applications with higher density I/O, the 1734-IA4 may prove to be more economical and ideal.
