About 1734-FPD

The Allen-Bradley 1734-FPD is a POINT I/O component. This module is used as Field Potential Distributor wherein it allows passage of POINT I/O backplane signals except the internal field bus power. This module changes the field power distribution of modules installed on its right side. It helps in logical and functional I/O segregation of low-channel count, high I/O mix applications with the use POINT I/O communication adapters such as 1734-AND, 1734-AENT 1734- ACNR, 1734-APB, 1734-PDN, and 1734D Series communication adapters. This Field Potential Distributor (FPD) Module is compatible for use with a both DC and AC Voltage Categories. Specifically, 5-250VDC and 24-240VAC voltage categories. This FPD module establishes grounding connection via the DIN Rail to the chassis ground. With this in mind, it is recommended to use DIN rails made of good conductive materials specifically Yellow Chromate or Zinc Plated DIN rails. It is not advisable to use plastic or DIN rail materials that are susceptible to corrosion or and oxidation as these materials may have intermittent grounding connection. Secure DIN rail mounting at every 200 mm or 7.8 inches length by using DIN rail anchors. In class 1 Division 2, hazardous locations, the FPD moduleÕs wiring must comply with the existing governing electrical standards and follow proper wiring methods. Inserting and removing the module under power may cause electrical arcs which is generally unsafe particularly in hazardous applications as this may cause explosion. Ensure that power is switched off when inserting or removing the module to prevent such event as well as protect nearby modules. The 1734-FPD module has Eight (8) connection points. These connection points are 0-1 which require no connection, Terminals 2-3 intended for Chassis ground. For 24VDC application, terminals 4-5 are the common terminals, and terminals 6-7 which are the Positive (+) terminals. When used with 120/240VAC applications, terminals 4-5 are L2/Neutral while terminals 6-7 are assigned as L1 terminals. The voltage input applied to the terminals, regardless of AC or DC, becomes the internal field power bus of POINT I/O modules installed to the right of the module. This module allows pass through of POINTBus current. It does draw Current from the backplane and has no power consumption, power and thermal dissipation. The nominal input voltages are 12V DC, 24V DC nom 10-28.8V DC range 120V AC, 240V AC with an input current of 10A. The Field Power Bus Supply voltage are 264V AC max, 12V DC, 24V DC, 10-28.8V DC range and 120V AC, 240V AC and operating frequency of 50/60 Hz. Recommended wire size for use with this module are 0.25-2.5 mm_ or 22-14 AWG solid or stranded copper wire with maximum insulation rating of 75 ¡C or 167 ¡F or greater 1.2 mm (3/64 in.). It has a physical dimension of 76.2 x 25.4 x 133.4 mm (3.00 x 1.00 x 5.25 in.) with weight of 0.12 kg (0.27 lb). Similar to POINT I/O modules, the operating temperature of the 1734-FPD is -20-55 ¡C or -4-131 ¡F with operating vibration and shock of 5 g @ 10-500 Hz and 30 g respectively.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-FPD is a Field Potential Distributor Module. This module is used to modify the field power distribution source for POINT I/O modules installed to the right of this module. This module permits passage of POINT I/O backplane signals except the internal field bus power. This module may be used with 5-250VDC and 24-240VAC Voltage categories.

F.A.Q for 1734-FPD

Q: 1. What is the POINTBus current draw of this module?A: This module simply allows passage of POINTBus current. It does not draw current from the backplane.
Q: 2. How many 1734-FPD can I use with a POINT I/O rack?A: This depends on the design of the system. As long as the FPD is needed, it may installed.
Q: 3. What are the recommended wire sizes for this module?A: Recommended wire size are 0.25-2.5 mm_ or 22-14 AWG solid or stranded copper wire with maximum insulation rating of 75 ¡C or 167 ¡F or greater 1.2 mm (3/64 in.).

PDFsupply Tech

The 1734-FPD is a POINT I/O module with a very specific purpose of changing field power distribution for I/O modules installed on the right side. This module allows passage of all POINT I/O backplane signals except the internal field power. This module may be operated with DC and AC voltage however, it does not function as a power supply.
