About 1734-EXT3
The 1734-EXT3 is an Allen-Bradley product designed for use with the POINT I/O product family. This hardware is a Bus extension cable which allows extension of the POINT I/O bus, creating physical separation of modules up to 3 meters. This bus extension cable is designed with a molded rectangular connector on both ends that slides with ani POINT I/O module. The connectors measure 2 5/8 inches from the side (Height) while the Width has a measurement of 2 inches from the cable entry to the face. The cable depth measures 1 _ inches. This module is compatible for use with any POINT I/O module as well as any POINT I/O communication adapter. Seven (7) inches or Six (6) clearances are the required working clearance to when installing the extension cable. This measurement determines the clearance or space needed beside the POINT IO rack to loop the cable up or down. The ideal clearance is Seven (7) inches as this ensures an adequate working space and allows the cable to be looped without violating the required minimum bend radius and introducing unwanted cable stress. In enclosure or panel with limited working and installation space, a 6-inch may be sufficient however, some tension or stress may be introduced to the extension cable. The 1734-EXT3 is still in the active product lifecycle phase, inline with the status of the entire POINT I/O product family. In actual installation, the module allows physical separation between POINT I/O modules. The extension cable does this by acting as the extension of the backplane. Since there are no break in the backplane, the POINT I/O rack is seen as one continuous assembly of POINT I/O modules. The 1734-EXT3 POINT I/O also allows partitioning of I/O modules for efficient troubleshooting. This bus extension cable supports horizontal extension as well as vertical extension with the consideration that the POINT I/O modules shall remain installed horizontally. This bus extension cable requires an operating temperature of -20 to 55 Deg. Celsius and Storage Temperature of -40 to 85 Deg. with non-condensing, relative humidity of 95%. Appropriate climate control devices may be installed to maintain enclosure temperature as well as shock and vibration protection devices. The 1734-EXT3 POINT I/O bus extension cable is exclusively used with the 1734 POINT I/O systems. This bus extension cable has equivalent or similar cables from the CompactLogix and MicroLogix systems however, it cannot be used with these mentioned platforms. CompactLogix uses a different cable connector and pinout as well as different backplane rating while the MicroLogix uses an IDE ribbon cable. The 1734-EXT3 is a POINT I/O bus extension cable that is able to provide up to 3 meter expansion. It can provide Two (2) more meters of expansion compared to the 1734-EXT1 which is only capable of 1-meter extension.
