About 1734-EXT1
The Allen-Bradley product with catalog number 1734-EXT1 is a POINT I/O extension cable. This cable is used to extend POINT I/O backplane to extend rack installation up to 1 meter. This extension cable has molded rectangular connector on both ends which measures 2 5/8 inches from the side (Height) while the Width has a measurement of 2 inches from the cable entry to the face. The cable depth measures 1 _ inches. The significant measurement is the distance between the face of the end that is fitted onto the POINT I/O rack, up to the cable where it is being looped. This measurement determines the clearance or space needed beside the POINT IO rack to loop the cable up or down. It is recommended to allocate a distance of 7 inches to able to loop the cable easily without violating the minimum bend radius and introducing unwanted cable stress. In enclosures with tight spaces, one may work with a 6-inch clearance however, this may put some tension or stress on the extension cable. This POINT I/O extension cable may be used in enclosures with tight horizontal spaces. It also allows partitioning of I/O modules for efficient troubleshooting. This extension cable supports horizontal extension as well as vertical mounting however, the POINT I/O modules shall remain installed horizontally. Similar to POINT I/O modules, this extension cable has an operating temperature of -20 to 55 Deg. Celsius and Storage Temperature of -40 to 85 Deg. Celsius with a relative humidity of 95%, non-condensing. This extension cable is compatible with any POINT I/O module available. One end of this cable directly slides and latches to a POINT I/O module while the other one similarly slides and latches to the partner module assembly. There is no limit with the installation of this extension cable however, it is necessary to consider the cost impact of each cable, practicality and voltage drop due to the length of the cable. This cable may only be used with 1734 POINT I/O systems. It cannot be used with CompactLogix and MicroLogix systems. CompactLogix uses a different cable assembly while MicroLogix uses an IDE ribbon cable. This is due to the fact that the extension cable simply extends the backplane.
