The Allen-Bradley product with catalog number 1734-EPAC is a POINT I/O module that is used as an expansion Power Supply. This power supply module provides 120/240VAC field power and produces an additional 1.3 A POINTBus current to modules installed on the right side. This permits installation of additional 12 modules typically but can reached up to 17 modules depending on the current requirements of modules installed in the rack. The 1734-EPAC AC expansion power supply supports any 1734 POINT I/O communication adapters. Specifically, it is compatible with 1734-ADN, 1734-ADNX, 1734-ACNR, 1734-AENT, and 1734-APB without limit to the no. of installation instances. Do not use the power supply with the 1734-PDN or 1734D series communication interfaces. These Communication adapter support 13 modules by default without the use of expansion power supply. In applications that require more than 13 POINT I/O modules, expansion power supplies permit addition of modules. Additionally, this power supply module enables separation of field power between input and output modules, it also separates field power to the analog and digital modules and permits grouping of POINT I/O modules that according to configured task, assigned function or criticality. This AC expansion power supply has Eight (8) termination points, with Two (2) No Connection terminals assigned at terminals 0-1, Protective Earth (PE) assigned at terminals 2-3, Two (2) L2/N terminals assigned at terminals 4-5 and Two (2) L1 terminals assigned at terminals 6-7. Terminals 7,5 and 3 are terminals assigned for continuing power. I/O module partitioning may also be implemented with the use of the 1734-EPAC. In practical applications, critical I/Os that require a higher degree of availability may be installed with a dedicated expansion power supply as the moduleÕs output voltage will stay within specifications when input drops out for 10 ms at 85V ac with max load. The 1734-EPAC has internal 120/240VAC to 5VDC converter built within its electronic circuitry. With this, the expansion power supply starts a new voltage distribution and allows partitioning of I/O modules. It has an easy identifiable color of Dark-Gray that allows the module to be easily identified for faster troubleshooting. It is also provided with LED indicators with One (1) green field power status indicator and One (1) green 5V system power indicator. This power supply expansion module requires a power supply input of 120/240VAC with frequency of 50-60Hz. The applicable voltage range is 85-264VAC and maximum supply current of 10A. It has POINTBus current output 1 A @ 5.2VDC for vertical mounting and input 1.3 A or @ 5.2VDC input for horizontal mounting. It has an internal overvoltage protection via the installed MOV and fuse. The 1734-EPAC has Power consumption of 15.1 W max @ 264V ac with a maximum power dissipation of 8.4 W max @ 264V ac and maximum thermal dissipation of 28.7 BTU/hr max @ 264V ac. The 1734-EPAC is an AC expansion power supply with 120/240VAC nominal input voltage requirement. The primary purpose of this power supply is to extends the POINTBus current, provide isolation and partitioning of POINT I/O modules. The main difference of this module to the 1734-EP24DC is that the latter is a DC expansion unit with 24VDC nominal voltage input while the 1734-EPAC is an AC unit.
