About 1734-ARM

The Allen-Bradley 1734-ARM is an Address Reserve Module (ARM) that is used to reserve module address of a certain POINT I/O slot. Utilization of this type of module keeps the desired address assignment of a module without the need of the actual module being installed. It can be installed to any slot with any key position. It is recommended to use the key position of the module to be used in the future. This module is mounted to a terminal base, similar to other POINT I/O modules. This module does not require external wiring as it is a passive module however, the appropriate wiring may be terminated according to the wiring of the module to be installed in the future. This module may be used in place of any POINT I/O module. Compatible terminal base for this module includes 1734-TB or -TBS wiring base assembly. The 1734-ARM is available in Series A, B and C. Series C module is compatible with DeviceNet (1734-AND) and ProfiBus (1734-APB) communication adapters. When using the 1734-ARM, configure any POINT I/O module to a POINT I/O slot. In the module properties, navigate through the connection tab and activate inhibit module option by ticking the appropriate checkbox. Comfim the configuration by clicking the ÒApplyÓ button. This configuration is necessary to avoid controller error such a configuration mismatch. Compatibility with POINT I/O communication adapter depends on the module it reserves. Some POINT I/O modules are operable only with specific communication adapters. The 1734-ARM has MED indicators such as One (1) green/red network status indicator for logic side and One (1) green/red module status indicator for logic side. The indicators of this module represent the module status and the network status. For the module status, LED may lit Green for a normally operating device, Flashing green indicating further configuration or correction is required, Flashing Red for recoverable fault, Solid Red for unrecoverable fault, and Flashing Red and Green for self-test. Self-test usually lasts a minute. Module is unresponsive during this power-up state. The network status LED signifies an offline device when OFF, no active connection when LED is Flashing Green, connection established when LED is lit at steady Green. For a timed-out I/O state, Flashing Red will be observed while solid Red light indicates a critical link failure or failed communication device. If the module is displaying an alternate flashing of Green and Red light, signals communication faulted device of the device has detected a network access error and in communication faulted state. This module has a POINTBus current requirement of 75 mA maximum @ 5V dc and Power Dissipation of 0.375 W maximum @ 5VDC. It also has a Thermal Dissipation of 1.3 BTU/hr maximum @ 5VDC. This module carries compliance certificate for safety standard UL 508 - Industrial Control Equipment CSA C22.2 No. 142-M1987 - Process Control Equipment.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-ARM is an Address Reserve Module that belongs to the POINT I/O product family. This module reserves a POINT I/O slot including for future installation of a POINT I/O module. It also protects the internal circuitry from dust and foreign contaminants.

F.A.Q for 1734-ARM

Q: 1. How many 1734-ARM can be installed in a POINT I/O assembly?A: Use of 1734-ARM follows the configuration rules of POINT I/O modules. Generally, up to 64 units of 1734-ARM may be used.
Q: 2. Does this module have input and output channels?A: No, it does not have input and output channels.
Q: 3. Can I terminate the appropriate wiring to the terminal base even if the 1734-ARM is currently installed? A: Yes, though the manual displays no connection required, termination of the wires in anticipation of the future module should be ok.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1734-ARM is an Address Reserve Module used to reserve the address of a slot and module assignment for future module installation. This module is technically a passive module however, draws some power in the POINT I/O backplane. The module prevents stoppage and reconfiguration of the POINT I/O which in turn prevent controller and process interruption.
