About 1734-ADNX

The Allen-Bradley 1734-ADNX is a DeviceNet communication adapter that belongs to the 1734 POINT I/O product family. This module allows implementation of distributed I/O system which extend any compatible controller to maximize I/O capability. The 1734-ADN initially supports up to 13 POINT I/O modules loacally but can be configured up to a maximum of 63 modules if used with an appropriate system power module with part number 1734-EP24DC. The 1734-ADNX has functions similar to the 1734-AND however, it has major enhancements that further extend the 1734-ADNX features. This module has a secondary Phoenix style termination point where a DeviceNet subnet may be implemented. The subnet created by this second DeviceNet point is electrically isolated from the main network. This network may also be used to extend the total DeviceNet trunk line cable distance. POINT I/O modules, including 3rd party devices always count as single node in the DeviceNet network however, Node numbers of devices installed on the same POINTBus backplane and subnet would not count against the 63 supported nodes. Supported transmission speed varies depending on the communication cable length. Transmission rates include 125K bit/s at 500m DeviceNet cable run, 250K bit/s at 250m and 500K bit/s at 100m. Use Allen-Bradley DeviceNet cable with part number 1485C-P1-Cxxx, with spool lengths of 75 meter (m) Spool, 200 meter (m) Spool, and 420 meter (m). The amount of data supported by this communication adapter amounts to are 250 bytes or 248 data and 2 bytes command info for output data when used as either COS, cyclic, or poll. 250 bytes or 248 data + 2 bytes status info for polled input data, 250 bytes or 248 data + 2 bytes status info for COS/cyclic input data and 8 bytes or 6 data + 2 status info for strobe input data. Data entering the communication adapter coming from all DeviceNet connections must not exceed the overall data size supported by the network. Should this instance happen, use multiple DeviceNet scanners and split the subnets accordingly. This may require the use of multiple communication adapter. The 1734-ADNX is compatible to be installed in a network where a 1734-AND is existing. It has a physical thumbwheel switch for manual setting of address from 0-63, each representing the DeviceNet node. If the thumbwheel is configured to 64-99, the module may only be set with via RSNetworx for DeviceNet. The 1734-AND is compatible is designed to be installed with POINT I/O modules such as Discrete Input and Output, Analog Input and Output and specialty modules. This communication adapter cannot be installed with another communication adapter. The subnet supported by this must not be connected to another subnet as this will create an invalid network configuration. Use a a zinc plated, yellow chromated steel DIN rail to maintain proper grounding. Avoid using Plastic and other DIN rail with material that exhibits poor conductivity or those susceptible to corrosion.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-ADNX is a POINT I/O communication adapter used to enable communication of a POINT I/O rack to the master controller. With the embedded DeviceNet interface, Point I/O modules installed to its local bus can transfer I/O data with speeds of 125K bit/s at 500m, 250K bit/s at 250m and 500K bit/s at 100m. This module supports implementation of DeviceNet subnet via the second Phoenix connector. This module is powered by a 24 Volt DC Input Voltage and support DIN rail mounting.

F.A.Q for 1734-ADNX

Q: 1. What is the main difference between the 1734-AND and 1734-ADNX?A: The 1734-ADNX is an enhanced DeviceNet communication adapter. The main difference is that the 1734-ADNX features a secondary Phoenix connector which supports implementation of a DeviceNet subnet.
Q: 2. Is this module compatible with all POINT I/O modules? How about 3rd party modules or non-Allen-Bradley products?A: The 1734-ADNX is compatible with all POINT I/O modules and some 3rd party devices. It is also compatible with Allen-Bradley encompass partner modules.
Q: 3. Do I need a software to configure the node address of this module?A: The thumbwheel switches may be used to initially set the node address of the module. Valid settings are 0-63

The 1734-ANDX is an enhanced version of the 1734-ADN. This module has a secondary Phoenix connector intended for implementation of DeviceNet subnet. This feature is not included with the 1734-ANDÕs capability. Use this module to decongest DeviceNet data traffic by utilizing the subnet.
