About 1734-ACNR

The 1734-ACNR is an Allen-Bradley communications adapter module. This module belongs to the 1734 POINT I/O product family. It manages data exchange between ControlNet scanners or controllers and POINT I/O modules residing within the same POINTBus backplane. The 1734-ACNR supports up to 63 POINT I/O modules or up to 504 I/O points. Series A 1734-ACNR supports ControlLogix, FlexLogix, and SoftLogix module but not compatible with PLC-5 and SLC Processors. Use Series B 1734-ACNR to communicate with PLC-5 and SLC 500 controllers. For use with 1734 POINT I/O modules, the 1734-ACNR requires Series C or later POINT I/O modules. This communication adapter features a Network Access Port (NAP) that allows bidirections data exchange, typically used in programming, I/O monitoring and maintenance tasks, supporting redundant and simplex application. This adapter has a built-in switch assembly for defining the moduleÕs network address. These are Two (2) switches located on the front of the module. It is advised to start or assign devices with lower addresses and avoid addressing gaps. This will contribute in an increased communication throughput and a more stable communication network. Valid address settings are 0-99. Press the Plus (+) and Minus (-) buttons to set the desired node address. The 1734-ACNR communication adapter is powered by a external nominal supply of 24VDC. It has a maximum dissipation of 10.2 Watts at 28.8 VDC. It provides 5 Watts at 5VDC intended for the POINTBus. The maximum Backplane current output of this communication adapter is 1.0A. Initially, the module can only accommodate up to 13 POINT I/O modules. To maximize module and I/O capability, extend the backplane output power with the use of the system power module with catalog number 1734-EP24DC. This power module supplies an additional 1.3A backplane output current. A single power module may is capable of supplying power to additional 17 POINT I/O modules. To reach the maximum 63 module, use at least Two (2) 1734-EP24DC power module. Wiring of the adapter must be done when there is no actively supplied power to the module. Removing the ControlNet cable when power is applied may cause electrical arc which may damage the moduleÕs internal circuitry or other modules connected to the POINTBus. Similarly, termination of power supply must be done when the incoming supply if OFF otherwise, electric arc may also be experienced which may cause the same damage to the module and nearby devices. This module is equipped with Six (6) status indicators. These indicators represent the Module, POINTBus, ControlNet A, ControlNet B, System Power and Field Power Status. The Network Access Port (NAP) support direct connection to any programming and configuration device. A programming terminal such as a personal computer can connect to the NAP port with the use of the 1786-CP cable. It is recommended to use only the 1786-CP for establishing connection with the NAP port as commercially available RJ style cable may cause network failures.
The Allen-Bradley 1734-ACNR is a POINT I/O ControlNet communication adapter. This adapter belongs to the POINT I/O family of distributed I/O modules. This adapter has Two (2) ControlNet communication ports that is compatible with simples and Redundant ControlNet data Highway. This module supports up to 63 POINT I/O modules.

F.A.Q for 1734-ACNR

Q: 1. How do you set the moduleÕs address? A: The moduleÕs ControlNet address is set via the provided switches on front of the panel. Valid address are within 0-99 however, it is advised to start with lower digits and avoid gaps.
Q: 2. What is the supported cable distance of ControlNet?A: ControlNet use Two (2) cable connections - Trunkline and Drop Line. The Trunkline can reach up to 1000 meters but may be used with repeaters to extend distance. Allen- Bradley ControlNet taps which connect the devices to the dropline are fixed with 1
Q: 3. How many I/O points does the 1734-ACNR support?A: The 1734-ACNR supports up to 63 POINT I/O modules.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1734-ANCR is a ControlNet communication adapter. This communication adapter supports redundant configuration and capable of up to 1KM which may be further extended with the use of repeaters. It provides fast data transmission speeds and ideal for implementing long distance Remote I/O systems.
