The Allen-Bradley 1760-MM2B module is a memory module that has been designed exclusively to be used with the Allen-Bradley Series B Pico controllers. This memory module has been manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation in the 1760 line. The main purpose of installing a memory module is so that Pico controllers that are not connected to an exclusive PC can have all the necessary information, logic, and programs stored and available to be used anytime they are needed. Files such as programs, parameter settings, text displays, and system settings can be stored in the memory and they will be stored in a non-volatile format. The Allen-Bradley 1760-MM2B memory module can be inserted and removed from the slot even when the controller is operating, without the risk of losing any data. The program transfer process needs to be done during the stop mode, however. Another important feature of this memory module is that it can store the automatic texts that are going to be displayed on the LCD of the controller.
The Allen-Bradley 1760-MM2B memory module can be used with non-display modules from the Pico controllers series in addition to the ones with screens. The only difference is that these Pico controllers will load a program automatically from the memory module every time it is powered up. The steps to transfer a program to the memory module are easy and straightforward and they consist of switching the device to the stop mode, selecting the "program" option from the menu, and then selecting the "card" option. This last option will appear only when the memory module has been properly inserted and recognized by the controller. Programs can be transferred from the Allen-Bradley 1760-MM2B memory module to the Pico controller, and from the Pico controller to the memory module. These programs can also be deleted from both devices.
