The Allen-Bradley 1764-RTC is a Real-Time Clock (RTC) module that provides an accurate year, month, day of month, day of week, hour, minute, and second reference for implementing time and date-based automation to implement scheduled run of equipment and devices. This type of automation is commonly used in combination with continuous automated process. Typical applications can be found in duplex or triplex pump and motor setup and equipment in Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) applications. It helps in the equal distribution of operating runtime among units, may be used in implementing preventive and predictive maintenance and align operation of these equipment and devices based on the peak and non-peak operation profile of the plant. This contributes in the overall productivity, which in turn maximizes opportunities for profit generation. The RTC module has an accuracy depending on the operating temperature. Aa of 0 ¡C or +32 ¡F, accuracy is +34 to -70 seconds/month. For +25 ¡C or +77 ¡F, accuracy is +36 to -68 seconds/month, for +40 ¡C or +104 ¡F, rated accuracy is +29 to -75 seconds/month and at +55 ¡C or +131 ¡F, accuracy is -133 to -237 seconds/month. These values are expected worst case values over a 31-day period. The RTC module is provided with a battery module that is assigned with a specific monitoring with address of RTC:0/BL. This address is set when the battery charge is low. It supports inclusion in the user program for capturing the first activity of the bit as this provides crucial information. 14 days after the first time the bit is set, the non-replaceable battery will be drained of its charge. This allows appropriate user action to be performed prior to the event. The battery is expected to last up to 5 years, at an operating temperature of 0¡C to +40¡C or +32¡F to +104¡F. The 1764-RTC is a Real-time module used exclusive for MicroLogix 1500 controllers particularly, 1764-LSP and 1764-LRP. This module provides accurate year, month, day of month, day of week, hour, minute, and seconds data. It has limited operation as it does include memory module compared to the 1764-MM#RTC, 1764-MM2RTC and 1764-MM1RTC. However, if memory module is not required, this RTC module is a practical component for use as it costs lower which contributes to the overall cost-effectiveness of the controller assembly.
