About 1764-MM3

The 1764-MM2 is a memory module used with MicroLogix 1500 controllers. This memory module has 16KB memory and supports User Program and Data Back-up, User Program Compare, Data File Download Protection, Memory Module Write Protection and Removal/Insertion Under Power. The 1764-MM3 optional memory module are compatible with MicroLogix 1500 base units such as 1764-L24AWA; 1764-L24BWA; 1764-L28BXB and processors with catalog number 1764-LRP and 1764-LSP. This memory module complements the internal memory provided with processor which is a Lithium battery dependent memory, specifically a volatile type memory. The 1764-MM3 is a non-volatile type, Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) memory module that does not require use of battery to retain its contents. This memory module does not increase the size of the processorÕs internal memory. By burning the program, the data is permanently stored to the memory module which may only be deleted is a specific voltage level is applied to one of the pins of the memory module. Once the program has been burned to the memory module, it may now be configured for automatic loading of program. This pertains to the transfer of memory contents of the memory module to the controllerÕs internal memory during every power cycle of the controller. This configuration is ideal as it prevents unwanted stoppage of operation due to sudden corruption of program in the controllerÕs memory which is typically caused by voltage surges or low battery charge. With the memory module in please, downtime chances are reduced. This module also supports removal and insertion under power. This means the module may be dismounted and installed even if the source controller or target controller are actively operating. However, immediate transfer of program cannot be executed as insertion of memory module to an active controller requires power cycle of the base unit before the module is recognized by the controller. User program may also be compared from the existing program in the internal memory to the existing program in the memory module. This helps track the modifications made to the controller. A Memory Module Information file is used to save information that is collected during start-up or when the module is detected by the processor. Detailed contents of the Memory Module Function File include FT - Functionality Type, MP - Module Present, WP - Write Protect, FO - Fault Override, LPC - Program Compare, LE - Load On Error, LA - Load Always, and MB - Mode Behavior. 1764-MM3 is capable of saving the data from the data Log Queue area. Specifically, Recipe data which was stored to Data Log Queue area in the MicroLogix 1500 LRP can be stored to the 1764-MM3 and 1764-MM3RTC.
The Allen-Bradley 1764-MM3 is an Allen-Bradley Memory Module compatible for use with MicroLogix 1500 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). The memory of this module amounts to 16KB. This memory module has an added functionality of being capable of saving the data from the Data Log Queue area. This memory module may be used with MicroLogix 1500 controller allowing a convenient means of transporting user program, program compare, data file download protection among other functions.

F.A.Q for 1764-MM3

Q: 1. What is the difference of 1764-MM2 and 1764-MM3? A: 1764-MM3 is capable of saving the data from the data Log Queue area. Specifically, Recipe data which was stored to Data Log Queue area in the MicroLogix 1500 LRP can be stored to the 1764-MM3 and 1764-MM3RTC.
Q: 2. Can I use the 1764-MM2 to backup the data of 1764-MM3?A: Yes, both have the same memory size, however, if there are recipe data needed to be saved or actively logged, the 1764-MM2 cannot perform such function.
Q: 3. What is the size of the memory of this module?A: The moduleÕs memory size is 16KB.

PDFsupply Tech

The 1764-MM3 is a memory module with 16KB memory. It has the same functionality with the 1764-MM2, however, the main difference between these modules is that the 1764-MM3 is capable of saving the data from the data Log Queue area. Specifically, Recipe data which was stored to Data Log Queue area in the MicroLogix 1500 LRP can be stored to the 1764-MM3 and 1764-MM3RTC.
