About 1764-24BWA

The Allen-Bradley base unit with part number 1764-L24BWA features an Eight (8) Standard 24VDC, Four (4) Fast 24VDC inputs operating at 20kHz and Twelve (12) Relay outputs. It also has a 9-Pin sub-D connector that supports DF1 Full Duplex, DF1 Hal-Duplex, DH485, MODBUS RTU Master and Slave, ASCII and shutdown port. The integrated communication port which support various communication protocols are designed for specific purposes. With MODBUS slave, the controller assembly responds to the respect of a MODBUS master within the network. If configured as MODBUS slave, the controller assembly becomes the initiator of requests which allow the controller to communication up to 32 devices. If configured S ASCII protocol, communication to ASCII devices such as barcode reader may be implemented. Barcode readers in industrial setup are commonly installed in the production lines where products are sorted or verified according to the information contain in the barcode. DF1, DH485 are Allen-Bradley proprietary protocols. DF1 is a dedicated peer-to-peer communication protocol while DH485 is typically used in networked configuration, following RS485 daisy chain topology. This base unit does not function without a processor. It is necessary to install a processor with part number 1764-LSP with 3.6 KB User Program and 4 KB User data; 1764-LRP with 10 KB User Program and 4 KB User Data. These controllers provide the logic execution capability for processing the user program downloaded to the controller. The 1764-L24BWA supports installation of additional memory modules such as 1764-MM1 with 8K memory; 1764-MM2 with 16K memory; 1764-MM3 with 16K. It also supports installation of Real-Time Clocks such as such as 1764-RTC or Real-Time Clock that comes along with the memory modules. Another accessory that is typically installed with the 1764-L24BWA is the Data Access Tool with catalog number 1764-DAT. This Data Access Tool is used for local visualization of the controllerÕs operation and properties, including monitoring of PLC program, communication settings, I/O forcing and other functions. The data Access tool is provided with Two (2) function keys, F1 and F2, Escape, Enter. Up and down buttons as operator input area. Along with the embedded LCD display. The Height measurement of the 1764-L24BWA differs when the latch is open or closed. It has dimensions of Height 138 mm (5.43 in.) - while with an open latch, the measurement is 118mm (4.65 in.) latch closed; Width168 mm (6.62 in) and Depth (87 mm (3.43 in). The base unit is non-functional without the processor. It can be installed horizontally using a DIN rail or through direct panel mounting, In any installation, allow 50 mm (2 inch) clearance on all sides of the controller to promote adequate air flow. When wiring the I/O terminal of this base unit, recommended wire sizes are #14 to #22 AWG for both solid and stranded wire types. Recommended wire insulation is Cu-90¡C or 194¡F. It is also recommended to use spade lug for a more secure connection. The terminal screw head diameter is 5.5 mm or -.220 inches. The compatible spade lugs measures 6.35mm (0.25 in.) wide spade or 4 mm (metric #4) fork terminal.
The Allen-Bradley 1764-L24BWA is a MicroLogix 1400 controller base. This base unit has a line power requirement of 85/265VAC. It has an integrated, Eight (8) Standard 24V dc, Four (4) Fast 24V dc, Twelve (12) Relay, and 2 isolated relays per unit. This base unit serves as the common housing of the MicroLogix 1500 components.
