The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1400 is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This controller family features an integrate 20K of memory, allocated for 10K word user program and 10K words user data memory. This controller also has 128Kbytes allocated for data logging and another 64Kbytes for recipe. This controller belongs to the compact controller type where the controller power supply, memory, I/O channels, and processors and installed in one common housing.
MicroLogix 1400 controllers are available with embedded Thirty-Two (32) I/O channels. It also has an integrated One (1) Isolated RS232 / RS485 combo port, One (1) non-isolated RS232 communication port and One (1) Ethernet communication port. Communication protocols supported by the RS232 / RS485 ports are DF1 Full Duplex and Half Duplex, DH485, MODBUS RTU, DNP3, and ASCII protocol while protocols supported by the Ethernet communication port are Ethernet I/O, MODBUS, and DNP3 protocols.
Compatible communication cables used for the integrated RS232 / RS485 communication ports are 1761-CBL-AM00 Series C or later, 1761-CBL-AP00 Series C or later, 1761-CBL-PM02 Series C or later, 1761-CBL-HM02 Series C or later, 2707-NC9 Series C or later, 1763-NC01 Series A or later, 1747-CP3 Series A or later. While cable used for Ethernet communication port is a Cat5 of Cat6 cable with RJ45 connector on both ends. Controllers for the MicroLogix 1400 PLCs are 1766-L32BWA, 1766-L32AWA, 1766-L32BXB, 1766-L32BWAA, 1766-L32AWAA, and 1766-L32BXBA. Controller models differ with power supply input voltage, I/O type and supports for embedded analog input and output.
MicroLogix 1400 controllers is compatible with 1762 MicroLogix expansion I/O module. Available modules are Discrete AC and DC inputs, Discrete AC, DC and Relay outputs, Analog voltage and Current input, Thermocouple and millivolt module, RTD and Resistance signals. This controller family may be expanded with the installation of up to Seven (7) 1762 MicroLogix module, with maximum allowable discrete I/O of 256. Up to 6embedded fast input channels with switching frequency of 100 kHz is equipped to controller with DC inputs.
MicroLogix 1400 are ideal for use in industrial machinery such as material handling, packaging, assembly, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Commercial Machinery such as industrial washers and other similar applications. This controller also supports Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Protocol converters, gateways and other electronic devices.
MicroLogix 1400 controller are designed with embedded backlight and navigation keys, to allow users to change the controller mode, set communication parameters, monitor I/O status, and monitor controller operation. All MicroLogix 1400 controllers are programmed and configured using RSlogix 500 or RSLogix Micro programming software. Compatible RSLogix version is version 8.10 and above. Software release are compatible for Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems. This controller is also installed with a Real-Time clock. Real-Time Clock are used to implement scheduling of devices and equipment, typically used in HVAC, Water and Waste Water applications for equal distribution of operation runtime.
Additional Memory Module is available for separate installation of the controller, such as 1766-MM1.
