The 1761-L16BBB is a MicroLogix 1100 controller. This controller is manufactured by Allen-Bradley that offers affordable solution to micro and small automation requirements. This controller is capable of being expanded where up to Four (4) 1762 Expansion modules may be installed along the base configuration. The 1761-L16BWA is ideal for use as a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), material handling, control of individual equipment within a HVAC system, Power monitoring or Substation automation, and other applications. The embedded I/O channels of this controller amounts to Sixteen (16) channels. It consists of Ten (10) 24VDC discrete inputs, Two (2) 0-10VDC analog inputs and Six (6) relay output channels. If installed with an analog output module, this controller may perform closed-loop, automatic control of analog systems to implement modulating and more accurate control of devices. Additionally, within the 10 input channels, Four (4) are High-speed input channels, starting from channel 0-3. These input channels may be used to interface up to Four (4) high-speed counters, Transmitter pulses for totalizing and metering purposes or even, integration of encoder for simple motion monitoring. This controller is also designed to be used with Temperature modules such as Four (4) channel RTD module with part number 1762-IR4 and 1762-IT4 which is a Thermocouple module. It also accepts standard input signals such as 4-20 mA with the use of 1762-IF4 or 1762-IF2O2 aside from the embedded analog input channel that is compatible for 0-10VDC signal. Through the embedded RS232/RS485 combo port, a variety of devices may be integrated with. With RS232, traditional connections may be established such as connection to programming worksations, Stand-alone Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) may be implemented. With RS485, MODBUS connectivity may be established and direct communication to devices may be achieved without the need of hardwiring. Some of these devices are Power Meters, UPS, Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED), OEM machines, gateways, protocol converters and many other electronic based industrial devices. Furthermore, this same port may be configured for American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) protocol which is commonly used with barcode scanners that are typically deployed in the manufacturing industry. The Ethernet communication port provides a powerful means of connecting and implementing vertical integration in the factory floor and horizontal integration up to the enterprise level. This Ethernet I/P port supports 10/100 Mbps data transmission speed and can be configured with auto-negotiation function. The RS232 and Ethernet ports functions independently and may be activated simultaneously. Up to Four (4) expansion modules is supported by this controller. Only 1762 Expansion modules may be used though, however, any combination module type is supported. This allows the controller to meet the specific automation requirements.
