About 1761-NET-ENIW

The Allen-Bradley 1761-NET-ENIW is an Advanced Interface Converter that allows a DF1 device to connect to Ethernet communication network. This interface converter is compatible with MicroLogix, SLC, PLC-5, CompactLogix, FlexLogix, and ControlLogix controllers, Personal Computers using RSLinx; Other DF1 Full-Duplex compliant products that have at least one RS-232 port, such as PanelView Operator Terminals and other interface devices. The 1761-NET-ENIW is a more advanced version of the 1761-NET-ENI as it comes with a built-in webserver that permits access from any node in the network to implement configuration and parameter definition. This Advanced Interface Converter has fixed-format pages that are customizable with the use of the ENIW utility. It has a user-friendly interface and requires no HTML programming skills are needed. Home page provides for user defined links to URLs, and most pages offer user defined page names. It also has Four (4) pages used for data view that displays user text, integer/floating point data, and permits data to be written to the connected controller. It is capable of implementing security through password protection to prevent unauthorized data writes. Password may be applied in every web page of the converter. Data view pages provide for a user selectable update interval and update timer (indication of communications). The integrated event pages display event logs that may be composed of up to 50 string elements. By implementing ethernet network, a networked peer-to-peer architecture may be accomplished which allows simultaneous communication and data exchange with multiple devices. Unlike master/slave protocol where a slave device responds only to the queries of dedicated master device. Ethernet I/P is a popular protocol that is easily scalable, does not require proprietary products and user friendly. The 1761-NET-ENIW supports Ethernet speed of up to 100mbps, with series D capable of gigabit speed with auto-negotiation function. It has an integrated support for Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service which allow a controller to send email messages and used to initiate data transmission on device information. This interface converter has a default IP address of 000.000.000.000 for 1761-NET-ENIW series A,B and C. If the device is a Series D product, the default IP address is 192.168.1.254. The BOOTP/DHCP Server tool is a freeware tool provided by Allen-Bradley that is used to assign IP address to almost any Ethernet IP enabled device. The configuration tool searches for the specific MAC address and ties the user defined IP address to the MAC address. This provides flexibility as most devices cannot be easily pulled out from service. By way of BOOTP, an established Ethernet IP connection can be used to browse the device in the network for downloading of Ethernet settings. The integrated communication ports of this interface converter include Two (2) communication ports, which are RS232 and Ethernet port. The RS232 interface is an 8-Pin mini DIN port while the Ethernet port requires RJ45 connector on both ends. It is powered by a 24VDC supply and can be installed on a DIN rail or directly to a mounting plate.
The Allen-Bradley 1761-NET-ENIW is an Advanced Interface Converter. This electronic converter is compatible for use with SLC, MicroLogix, PLC5 and Operator interfaces which enables connection of any DF1 enabled device to Ethernet I/P network. This converter is DIN rail or Panel mounted and powered by 24VDC external power supply. This interface converter has an integrated Web server.
