This electronic converter is compatible for use with SLC, MicroLogix, PLC5 and Operator interfaces which enables connection of any DF1 enabled device to Ethernet I/P network. About 1761-NET-ENI
The 1761-NET-ENI is an Allen-Bradley Advanced Interface Converter (AIC) that allows DF1 capable Device to connect to Ethernet communication network. This interface converter is a DIN rail or panel mounted device that is powered by an external 24VDC power supply. This is a cost-effective solution to network DF1 enabled devices, particularly allowing these devices to be enterprise network connected. This interface converter supports 10/100 mbps data transmission speed over a shielded or unshielded twisted-pair cable with RJ45 connector. This converter is compatible for use with all MicroLogix Controllers, SLC500 controllers, PLC5, CompactLogix, FlexLogix and ControLogix controllers. Aside from these controllers, the 1761-NET-ENI also supports connectivity with any programming workstation or personal computers that run at least RSLinx V2.3or higher, using DF1 Full-Duplex driver. This converter is also compatible for use with PanelView Operator Terminals, gateways, converters and other similar devices. It may also be used with workstation or devices that run RSLinx V2.31 and higher using Ethernet driver. Ethernet network support communication over long distances as it can be used on 100m distances with options to further extend with the use of additional ethernet switch of conversion to fiber optic cable. Ethernet protocol exchanges data in peer-to-peer mode which means that one node may have multiple partner nodes and communicate simultaneously unlike master-slave device where the slave device is tied up to one master and only sends data upon request of the master device. Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service is supported by this device which allows sending of email messages in any point of the connected network. Supported operating modes of this Advance Interface Converter includes Messaging, Email. The 1761-NET-ENI has been released with Four (4) series specifically, Series A, B, C and D. Series B also supports Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and provided with Two (2) new options if used with BOOTP utility. Series C enhancements includes auto-negotiation function for Ethernet speeds of 10 Megabits and 100 Megabits per Second, increased operating temperature, and improved messaging performance. Series D enhancement includes configuration of the device over Ethernet, forcing of 10 Mbps/100Mbps and half-duplex and Full-duplex configuration. The 1761-NET-ENI Series A and B has is provided with similar indicators, particularly Five (5) LED indicators which are RS-232 TX/RX, used to indicate RS232 activity, POWER LED that indicates power supply status, Link LED for Ethernet connectivity, Ethernet TX/RX to indicate Ethernet data exchange, and FAULT to indicate module operation status. Series C and D, embedded LED indicators are RS232 TX/RX for indication of RS232 data transmission, POWER for presence of 24VDC power, 10 for indicating connection to a 10-Base-T Ethernet link connection, 100 to indicate 100-Base-T Ethernet link connection, FAULT for module operation status. Series A and B modules are capable of 10-Base-T transmission while Series C and D supports 10/100 Base-T with is supported.
