The 1761-L20AWA-5A is an analog control capable MicroLogix 1000 that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This controller is ideal for installation in industrial environment, used to automate small process or machines where discreet and analog control is required. This is achieved through the integrated Twelve (12) 120VAC inputs in sinking configuration, Four (4) analog input compatible for 0-10Vdc or 4-20 mA signal types, Eight (8) relay outputs that may be operated in 24-125VDC or 120/240 VAC, and One (1) analog output channel that is capable of 0-10VDC or 4-20 mA. The integrated memory of this controller is and EEPROM memory that amounts to 1KB where 737 instruction words and 437 data words. The discrete input channels are used to integrate discrete signaling devices such as switches, sensors, auxiliary contacts and other similarly functioning electrical devices. Discrete output channels are used to energize electrical loads particularly solenoid actuators, motorized actuators, pilot lamps, sounding devices, motor starters and other devices. Analog inputs are used to integrate signals from transmitters, transducers that represents a certain magnitude of a process variable while the analog output channels is used to modulate analog actuators such as positioners, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and devices such as converters, data loggers or recorders, isolators and other applicable functions. The embedded 8-pin mini DIN physical RS232 interface supports Allen-Bradley proprietary DF1 protocol that may be used to communicate with programming workstations and Hand-Held Programmers (HHP), Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), gateways, converters, OPC servers and other devices. This controller is powered by an external AC power supply with operational range of 85-264V ac. The controllerÕs power consumption is 30VA for 120VAC supply while 36VA for 240VAC operation. Maximum tolerable power supply inrush Current is 30A for 8 ms. The combination of analog input and output channels may form a single close loop control system where advanced control algorithms may be implemented such as Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) for implementation of a complete automatic control loop. It allows multi-point monitoring and accurate control. Analog inputs can be used in most common process such as Pressure, Level, Flow and Temperature processes as well as other processes while the analog output may be linked to the PID controllerÕs control output. When wiring discrete input signals, use Solid wire with size of #14 to #22 AWG or Stranded wire with size of #16 to #22 AWG. For analog wiring, use Belden #8761 which is a Two-wire cable with drain wire and foil shield. Properly ground the controller and the signal wires to reject electrical noises. Do not ground both end wires of drain and foil shield. The controllerÕs terminal screw heads measure 5.5 mm or 0.220 inches.
