About MVI94-MCM
The GE Fanuc/ProSoft MVI94-MCM communication module is a serial communication module from the ProSoft Flex I/O series. It is meant to be installed on an MVI94 Flex I/O series base that ships with it, but before it is installed, it should be configured with the 3 jumpers that are installed on it. The base of the MVI94-MCM serial communication module allows it to be mounted on a DIN rail. This module uses an external power supply which is supplied to it through the base from the system’s 2-pin screw terminal block. The MVI94-MCM serial communication module can operate with either 12 Volts DC or 24 Volts DC of power from the external power supply, and this power supply should be located as close to the module as possible.
The GE Fanuc/ProSoft Flex I/O MVI94-MCM serial communication module has a parameter known as the module name parameter which allows the users to assign a name that is up to 80 characters long to the module so that it can be identified easily within the Flex I/O system for applications and maintenance. The other parameters that the module supports and that the users can configure include the maximum register parameter, the error/status block pointer parameter, the error/status frequency parameter, and the backplane fail count parameter. All of the configuration information for the MVI94-MCM serial communication module is stored in a text file in its flash memory, and this information is used to control its applications with the field devices that are connected to its ports.
