About MVI94-GSC-E
The MVI94-GSC-E module from ProSoft Technology is a generic ASCII communication module that uses the Flex platform. It is part of the Flex I/O series. The MVI94-GSC-E communication module ships with a base for mounting and a serial adapter cable. It also comes with 3 jumpers installed on it. These 3 jumpers are installed on the bottom of the communication module and they can be used to configure the module before it is installed. The mounting base for the MVI94-GSC-E communication module uses a keyswitch to hold the module firmly in place and to ensure that the wrong module will not be installed on it. The keyswitch must be turned to position 1 before the MVI94-GSC-E module can be installed, and the flexbus connector on the base must also be pushed all the way to the left so that it can connect with the base of a neighboring module or to an adapter.
After it has been configured, the ProSoft Technology MVI94-GSC-E ASCII communication module will store its configuration data in a text file that is known as the configuration text file and this text file is stored in the communication module’s flash memory. Each time the MVI94-GSC-E communication module is started up, it reads the data in the communication text file and it uses this data to control the GSC-E protocol. The GSC-E protocol is responsible for interacting with the communication module’s application port or ports, and it uses the configuration data to figure out how to interact with these ports properly. The MVI94-GSC-E communication module’s operating temperature range is from 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
