The Allen-Bradley 1794-TB2 terminal base unit is manufactured to be the base for the Allen-Bradley Flex I/O input and output modules. Multiple modules are compatible with the 1794-TB2 terminal base unit because the Flex I/O terminal base units are designed to be as universal as possible. In a complete Flex I/O system with a terminal base, an I/O module, and an adapter module, most or all of the wiring connections for the system are made on the terminal base unit. This makes it possible to remove or replace the I/O module easily without disturbing any of the wiring connections. The Allen-Bradley 1794-TB2 terminal base is a cage clamp type of terminal base unit.
The primary components of the Allen-Bradley 1794-TB2 terminal base unit for the Flex I/O system include a female flexbus connector, a male flexbus connector, a keyswitch that can be set to the correct position for hosting a specific I/O module securely, several input and output terminal strips, a locking tab, and a variety of connection points.
