The Allen-Bradley 1794-OB16D Flex I/O Digital Output Module is a 16-channel output module with diagnostics features that is designed for the Allen-Bradley Flex I/O system. This module features built-in diagnostic capabilities that allow it to detect, indicate, and report fault conditions such as open wiring, shorted output field devices on the field bus, shorted input or output wiring, and reverse polarity in the wiring. The 1794-OB16D Flex I/O Digital Output Module supports 16 non-isolated, current-sourcing input channels that are arranged in 2 groups of 8 output channels each. Each output channel has a maximum current load capability of 0.5 Amps and a total of 8.0 Amps per module. The 1794-OB16D Flex I/O Digital Output Module’s output channels have a minimum and maximum on-state voltage rating of 10 Volts DC and 31.2 Volts DC, respectively, with a 24 Volts DC nominal voltage rating, and it also has a minimum and maximum on-state current rating of 1 and 8 milliamps, respectively.
Each of the 1794-OB16D Flex I/O Digital Output Module’s output channel has a maximum surge current of 2 Amps for 50 milliseconds duration and this is repeatable every 2 seconds. Unlike the electronically protected modules from the same series, the 1794-OB16D Flex I/O Digital Output Module does not have electronically-fused outputs. However, a SAN-O MQ4-800 mill-Amps fuse can be installed on each output. The power for logic operation comes from an external 24 Volts DC power supply with a 10 Volts DC to 31.2 Volts DC operating range and a maximum current supply of 500 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. The 1794-OB16D Flex I/O Digital Output Module requires a terminal base unit such as the 1794-TB3SK, 1794-TB3KN, 1794-TB3, 1794-TB3S, and the 1794-TB2 for installation and all the field-side wiring. It has 16 front-panel LEDs that show the operation status of individual output channels, and it comes in an open style design with support for cabinet installation.
