The Allen-Bradley 5094-OB32 module is a Flex 5000 digital 32-point sourcing output module. It requires connection to a 24 Volts DC power source to sensor actuator terminals for field-side power. The behavior of the module is determined by the data that is sent to it from a controller. The 5094-OB32 uses a producer/consumer communication model in which the I/O modules produce data without needing to be polled first. To avoid explosions in hazardous locations, neither the 5094-OB32 module nor the connections to the module should be disconnected while the power is on. Because the module is not resistant to sources of ultraviolet radiation, it should be mounted in an ATEX / IECEx Zone 2 certified enclosure which has a minimum environmental protection rating of IP 54.
