The FLEX 5000 5094-IB16S input module from Allen-Bradley is a safety input module. It can operate alongside standard I/O modules in a controller system with a safety controller because safety controllers from the FLEX 5000 series can accommodate both standard FLEX 5000 I/O modules and safety FLEX 5000 I/O modules. The 5094-IB16S safety input module is compatible with a variety of controllers from the GuardLogix 5580 series and from the Compact GuardLogix 5380 series. It features 16 input points and its inputs are all sinking inputs. The operating voltage range for the 5094-IB16S input module is 18 to 32 Volts DC. It comes with latching hooks that make it easy to install it securely on its terminal base assembly, and it also features a release lever that disengages the latching hooks to allow it to be removed from the terminal base without difficulty.
The Allen-Bradley FLEX 5000 5094-IB16S safety input module supports producer/consumer communication, which means that it can produce data without being polled by the controller first, and that the controller consumes the data that the input module produces. In fact, the controller can consume the data that the 5094-IB16S input module is producing simultaneously to the production of that data, and this means that the controller does not have to send the data to any other controllers. This module can detect field power losses and it can tolerate humidity levels between about 5 and 95% with no condensation.
