The Allen-Bradley 5094-AEN2SFPR adapter is an adapter module from the Allen-Bradley FLEX 5000 series of Ethernet/IP adapter modules. Some of the 5094-AEN2SFPR adapter module’s functions include allowing for high-speed data transfers between certain types of Logix 5000 controllers and remote I/O modules, providing system-side power to the FLEX 5000 I/O modules, and connecting to more than 1 Ethernet/IP topology at a time. The 5094-AEN2SFPR adapter module also supports RIUP or Removal and Insertion Under Power for I/O modules and for live bank changes. It uses both copper and fiber media, it can communicate at 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 1 Gbps, it supports DLR, star, and linear networks, and it supports thermal monitoring and configurable power monitoring.
The Allen-Bradley FLEX 5000 5094-AEN2SFPR adapter module can support up to 16 I/O modules at a time in a single setup. It uses an end cap on its exposed interconnection points to protect them from dust and other substances that would interfere with their operation and to protect the users from electric shock. The 5094-AEN2SFPR adapter module needs to be installed with enough space around it to allow it to air-cool and avoid overheating while operating. It is made to be mounted on a DIN rail, and this DIN rail is the source of its grounding protection. It is recommended to use separate external power supplies for the 5094-AEN2SFPR adapter module and for its adjacent terminal because using 1 power supply for both devices can cause compilations or errors during operation.
