The 1797-ACNR15 adapter is a Flex Ex I/O redundant media adapter from Allen-Bradley. The 1797-ACNR15 redundant media adapter is used to connect different Flex Ex I/O modules to the ControlNet Ex industrial network. This adapter module comes with features like LED status indicators, a label, 2 ControlNet Ex BNC connectors with insulator boots that are known as Channel A and Channel B, a module locking tab, removable power connectors, a backplane connector with a cover, and a node address push switch. The 1797-ACNR15 adapter only has an environmental protection rating of IP 20 by itself and it should be installed in a metal enclosure that will increase its environmental protection rating and extend its operating life. Additionally, the cover for the backplane connector should not be removed unless the adapter is being installed on a terminal base.
The Allen-Bradley Flex Ex I/O 1797-ACNR15 redundant media adapter is meant to be installed on a yellow chromate steel DIN rail with zinc plating to make sure that it is properly grounded. It is also meant to be part of an intrinsically safe backplane setup with other intrinsically safe system modules and an intrinsically safe power supply.
