About 1786-RPFS
The 1786-RPFS repeater module is a short-distance fiber repeater module manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It is used in the industrial sector to extend the length of a network. It is also used to create a star, ring, or point to point topology. It also helps with media conversion from copper to fiber media and vice versa. This short-distance module is powered with a voltage source of 24 Volts DC. It connects 2 ControlNet products with a fiber link. The 1786-RPFS repeater module can work properly at up to a distance of 300 meters between 2 ControlNet modules. This repeater module also has ground isolation between nodes and is less affected by noise than other repeater modules.
The 1786-RPFS repeater modules comprises different components. A backplane connector is present on the left side of the module and there are LED indicators on the top to relay information about Channel 1 and Channel 2. A module locking tab is also included alongside the Channel 1 and Channel 2 fiber ports. There are protective caps on the fiber ports for additional safety. The 1786-RPFS repeater module is powered with 300 milliamps of current and 5 Volts DC maximum voltage. The module consumes a total power of 1.5 Watts. The repeater uses 200/230 type HCS fiber and it supports a communication rate of 5 Mbps. The fiber temperature range should be between -20 and 80 degrees Celsius. The bend radius of the fiber is 1.5 inches during installation and 0.4 inches during operation. The fiber has an operating wavelength of 650 nm and the transmitter output is greater than 5 mW/square millimeter.
